NCR 3125 NOTEPAD COMPUTER SYSTEM RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
EXCELLENCE AWARD

NEW YORK, June 23, 1992 - The NCR Corporation's pen-based computer system,
the NCR 3125 NotePad, has received a Silver Award in the 1992 Industrial
Design Excellence Award (IDEA) competition.

Sponsored by Business Week and presented by the Industrial Designers
Society of America, the IDEA is the nation's most coveted annual citation
for industrial design. The contest ranges over the entire spectrum of
industrial products -- from toys to computers to automobiles.

According to IDEA92 Jury Chair Arnold Wasserman, "The winners exemplify
excellence in a profession that is vital to regaining America's
competitive edge." The NCR 3125 NotePad is lightweight (3.9 pounds) and is
designed for mobility and ease of use. The computer system can replace
conventional keyboard-based systems, paper pads and order forms.

To Automate Mobile Workers

The NCR 3125 is designed to enable sales forces, field technicians, service
providers, and mobile executives to collect, process, analyze and respond
to data in a fast efficient new way. It supports the broadest range of
operating systems including Microsofts' Windows for Pen Computing, GO
Corporations PenPoint, CIC's Pen-DOS and Grid's PenRight! operating
systems.

"Although a team effort, the principal credit for the design of the NCR
3125 design belongs to Werner Stephan, Senior Industrial Designer at NCR's
GmbH Augsburg, Germany facility and the Phoenix Product Design group
located in Stuttgart," said Alok Mohan, vice president of NCR's
Workstation Products Division.

Designed by NCR Customers

Mohan added, "While it's important to remember that the 3125 was really
designed by our customers, hundreds of whom were interviewed on their
needs for mobile computing solutions. And that is ultimately what good
design is all about."

In total, NCR Corporation won five other IDEA awards which include: two
Silver Awards for a design research project and a student concept of
printer; and three Bronze Awards for the design of the NCR 5980 Signature
Capture system and two student concepts of a multimedia computer and a
display system.

Award Criteria

The NCR award-winning designs were selected from the largest range and
number of submissions in the competition's history. Included are products
introduced to the public and projects developed as conceptual
explorations, research and student theses. Entries are judged on six
criteria of excellence: innovation; benefits to user; benefits to the
client or manufacturer; appropriate use of materials and processes; the
appeal of the appearance; and positive social impact.

The formal presentation of the IDEA awards will be made at ceremonies on
August 19th, the opening event of IDSA's quadrennial international
conference, WORLDDESIGN92.

In addition to the IDEA award, the NCR 3125 NotePad has won a number of
other international design awards including the Premio SMAU Industrial
Design, Milano Italy; best of category from the Industrie Forum Design,
Hanover, Germany, "The Best of the Best" from Design Innovationen '92
Design Center, Germany; and best of category in ID Magazine's Annual
Design Review (USA).

NCR, the networked computing resource of AT&T, develops, manufactures,
markets, supports and services enterprise-wide information systems for
