June 22, 1992 -- LAKE MARY, FLORIDA -- Maynard Electronics, an Archive
company, today announced that its MaynStream for OS/2 backup software has
been approved in conjunction with Lotus Development Corporation as Lotus
Notes-Compatible. Maynard is the first approved Notes Compatible backup
solution for nearly 120,000 Notes users at more than 400 customer sites.

"Because many companies effectively run their business with the Notes
product, the amount, importance and distribution of data is so significant
that they require a high-performance, high capacity backup solution with
maximum vendor support," said Marty Fletcher, Product Marketing Manager
for Maynard. "Notes users now can choose backup systems engineered
especially for their environments with the first backup software certified
by Lotus as Notes-Compatible."

"Data backup assumes even greater importance with mission-critical
applications running under Notes," said Bob Stack, Manager of Notes
Operations and Administration at Lotus. "Notes users can now rely upon a
high-performance, high-capacity backup system to protect their data."

The Lotus Notes LAN-based workgroup software product is used for building
applications that enable group communication and information sharing. Some
typical applications include: sales lead tracking, brainstorming, product
planning, account management and reference libraries. Notes is a client
server product that runs on all major networks including Novell, IBM,
Microsoft, Banyan and DEC systems.

MaynStream for OS/2 backup software is compatible with the entire Maynard
line of MaynStream high-performance tape drives ranging in capacity from
60MB to 5GB. It provides full backup and restore capabilities for
directory Access Control Lists (ACL), file permissions and locked OS/2
network files such as OS2.INI, OS2SYS.INI, LANMAN.INI and NET.ACC while
maintaining all file security. The software also supports the High
Performance File System (HPFS), as well as the DOS File Allocation Table
(FAT) file system, and accurately transfers files between the two. In
addition, the software can perform file grooming, using user-directed
criteria to transfer to tape and optionally delete unused static files.

MaynStream for OS/2 software allows unattended backup procedures to be
scheduled during periods of low network activity. If the network is busy
during backup the retry option for busy or open files and the ability to
capture files in use ensures a complete backup of all network files.
MaynStream for OS/2 software also offers Fast File Access which
dramatically reduces restore times to as little as 60 seconds on a 5GB
MaynStream 5000HS drive.

MaynStream for OS/2 software is included with the purchase of any
MaynStream SCSI-based system ranging in capacity from 525MB to 5GB through
September 30, 1992, as part of the Maynard super bundle software
promotion. Systems that are a part of the promotion also include
MaynStream for DOS, MaynStream for Windows and MaynStream NLM software for
the cost of a single MaynStream for DOS system. This represents a savings
of up to $1,350 based on individual purchases of MaynStream software under
the Maynard software upgrade program. MaynStream for OS/2 software also is
sold separately as a $279 upgrade.
