Carlsbad, CA--May 5, 1992--Slac Electronics of Carlsbad, California and ACE
Technologies of San Jose, California have jointly announced the
introduction and first shipments of Double Card, the first palmtop
computer memory card with data compression to double the amount of storage
space on a standard RAM card.

This is the latest in Stac's continuing product development efforts to make
data compression an industry standard. Said Gary Clow, President of Stac,
"Having successfully brought data compression technology to the tape
storage, data communications, and personal computing markets, we wanted to
address the growing market for data compression for palmtops. We feel we
have accomplished that goal with the development of DoubleCard. Utilizing
Stacker LZS data compression technology, DoubleCard is designed for use
with the HP 95LX, Poqet, and all DOS compatible PC's using the standard
PCMCIA interface."

According to Andy Fu, President and CEO of ACE Technologies, "DoubleCard
provides users of portable and palmtop computers with a more cost
effective solution for solid state storage." He added, "By integrating
Stacker LZS data compression into solid state memory cards, we
significantly reduced the price of memory per megabyte to meet the needs
of the rapidly growing palmtop market."

DoubleCard's built-in LZS data compression is completely transparent to the
user and does not require any installation. It is 100% compatible with all
DOS applications for palmtop and laptop computers. DoubleCard comes
preformatted and bundled with a palmtop utility disk and many popular
shareware programs. In addition, ACE provides a one year manufacturer's
warranty and offers free memory card batteries for up to five years.

DoubleCard is currently available in capacities ranging from 1MB to 4MB.
The suggested retail prices are $309 (1MB), $499 (2MB), $729 (3MB) and
$879(4MB). All versions of DoubleCard can be purchased directly through
ACE Technologies at 1-800-825-9977 (408-428-9722).

ACE Technologies was founded in September, 1991 to develop advanced solid
state memory and storage solutions for the palmtop and portable computer
market. They manufacture a full line of memory card products.

Stac Electronics, founded in 1983, is the industry leader in high
performance data compression. Their product family-- compression software,
boards, and chips,--have won numerous industry awards, PC Computing's Most
Valuable Product, and BYTE Magazine's Best of COMDEX and Award of
Distinction. Stac products are sold direct from the company and through
traditional retail and OEM channels.
