New York, New York (June 22, 1992) -- Today, Chicago-based Baler Software
Corporation announced and demonstrated its newest spreadsheet compiler -
$295 Baler Express 1.0. This new release represents the entry-level
product in a spreadsheet compiler line also including $495 Baler 6.0 and
$795 BalerXE 2.0. Baler Express is shipping in the next two weeks, at an
introductory price of just $149.00.

Baler Express is designed for quick and easy use by spreadsheet users to
create straight-forward, secure and stand-alone applications from
worksheets intended for use by others. The software's feature set is
tailored for new spreadsheet compiler users and contains a simplified
version of Baler's popular Extended Macro Language. The Baler Express
User's Guide is especially written for easy comprehension by even casual
spreadsheet users.

Baler Software Corporation, the recognized leader in spreadsheet compiling
software, is known for providing versatile application development tools
that build on a DOS spreadsheet user's experience. (Under development is
Baler for Windows--the release date has not yet been announced).

Baler Use Growing

Baler's growing popularity is due to several trends, including:

1. Corporations increasingly find it difficult to share spreadsheet
templates, because the spreadsheet environment is becoming so mixed. Baler
solves this problem since a baled spreadsheet doesn't depend on the local
user's spreadsheet brand or version to run.

2. The Lotus 1-2-3 .WK1 file format is now read by almost all popular
programs, and Baler stores data in this format. This makes Baler data
usable by all spreadsheets.

3. Spreadsheets are the most widely used application and still growing in
use, anc. uses this familiar metaphor throughout. This makes Baler the
friendliest route to application development for spreadsheet users.

"This new release brings the advantages of spreadsheet compiling to users
in a way requiring a lower cost investment and less spreadsheet
experience," said Ron Reimann, President. "Baler Express is a low risk way
to find out about the advantages of spreadsheet compiling, and the
software is so intuitive that users may only occasionally consult the
specially written User's Guide.

Baler Express Features/Benefits

Baler Workbench. A single menu-driven screen for easy point-and-shoot
access to Baler's development tools. Provides dialog box pick-lists for
file selection, and manages the details of the work session, saving time.

Spreadsheet Compatibility. Compiles .WK1 files from popular spreadsheets
including Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro and Excel. Supports the macro language
from Lotus 1-2-3 Release 2.2 and most of the macro language from Lotus
1-2-3 Release 2.4 and 3.1.

Baler Extended Macro Language. Baler Express adds 19 new macro commands to
provide more security and customization. These commands make the compiled
worksheet tamperproof, and make it possible to create compiled worksheets
easily used by those unfamiliar with spreadsheet programs. For example,
you may attach a menu to a function key, then display a message like
"F4=MENU" making it simple to recall a menu.

Availability and Pricing

Baler Express retails for $295 and will be available by early July, 1992.

Baler's other non-spreadsheet compiler products include Worksheet Optimizer
(WSO) and ICE. WSO automatically "cleans-up" .wk1 and .wq1 files, removing
unneeded formatting and rewriting inefficient formulas to save RAM and
disk space. ICE, an add-in for Lotus 1-2-3, adds the same Baler Extended
Macro Language in these new releases of Baler directly into 1-2-3. ICE
makes 1-2-3 the perfect development environment for a Baler compiler
user.

All products are available from leading software resellers, Merisel, Tech
Data, and from Baler Software Corporation. Baler products are available in
Canada, U.K., Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, South America,
Japan and Africa. Demo disks are available.
