Adobe Systems and LaserTools Announce Plans to Bring ATM Technology to
WordPerfect

Mountain View, Calif., (June 1, 1992) - LaserTools Corporation and Adobe
Systems Incorporated today announced that they have signed an agreement in
which LaserTools has licensed Adobe Type Manager (ATM) technology.
LaserTools will incorporate the technology into an on-the-fly Type 1 font
product for WordPerfect for DOS, version 5.0 and 5.1. The product will
also support WordPerfect's DOS printer drivers included in WordPerfect for
Windows.

The LaserTools ATM-based software product will provide the same printing
and ease-of-use benefits to DOS WordPerfect users that ATM for Macintosh
and ATM for the Windows environment provide to users of Macintosh and
Windows-based computers. The product will scale Adobe's Type 1 fonts on
the fly, creating sharp, smooth type in any size for almost any printer,
including laser, inkjet and dot-matrix printers.

"This product will introduce many WordPerfect users to the benefits of
high-quality, scalable Type 1 fonts," said Steve MacDonald, Adobe's senior
vice president and general manager of the System Division. "It will make
WordPerfect an even more complete solution for document needs of all kinds
and reinforce the position of Adobe's Type 1 fonts as the standard for PC
users."

"We intend to build the premiere WordPerfect font product," said LaserTools
CEO Randall Spurrier. "The combination of Adobe's Type 1 fonts, ATM
technology, and LaserTools' font and printer management will provide
WordPerfect users with unprecedented typographic capabilities."

The LaserTools product will give DOS WordPerfect users access to the 1,500
scalable fonts in the Adobe Type Library and to the more than 13,000 Type
1 fonts available from Adobe and other type vendors. Included with the
product are 20 of Adobe s Type 1 fonts selected for WordPerfect users:
four typefaces each of Times, Helvetica, Courier, Adobe Garamond and one
typeface each of Tekton, Lithos, Franklin Gothic Condensed and Symbol.

The LaserTools ATM-based product for DOS WordPerfect is expected to be
available In the summer of 1992. It will have a suggested retail price of
$149. LaserTools will distribute the product through retail outlets in
North America. Adobe will distribute its own version of the product in
Europe through its European distributors.

LaserTools Corporation of Emeryville, California, was founded in 1987. They
are widely recognized as industry leaders in the production of IBM
PC-based printing utility software. LaserTools line of products includes
LaserTools PrintCache, a high-performance print buffering utility and
LaserTools Printer Control Panel, a software language switching utility
for PostScript printers.

Adobe Systems Incorporated, founded in 1982, is headquartered in Mountain
View, California. Adobe develops, markets and supports computer software
products and technologies that enable users to create, display, print and
