New V.32bis Data/Fax Modems Enable Data Throughput Up To 57,600 bps

NEW YORK, June 21, 1992 -- The Complete PC today announced the TurboModem
line of high speed data/fax modems, which can transmit data at 14,400 bps
without data compression, and as fast as 57,600 bps with data
compression.

The TurboModem series consists of three new high-speed data/fax modems.
TurboModem a data/fax internal card, features a V.32bis (14,400 bps) data
modem with 9600 bps fax at a suggested retail price of $299.00. TurboModem
Plus, is a data/fax internal card that combines a V.32bis (14,400 bps)
data modem with V.42bis for high-speed data communication at up to 57,600
bps and 9600 bps fax at a suggested retail price of $399.00. An external
unit is also available. The Complete PC will provide MS-DOS fax software
and Crosstalk data communications software free of charge.

A powerful Hayes compatible data modem offers 14,400 bps data transmission.
An optional upgrade is available to obtain V.42bis and MNP 5 data
compression with V.42 and MNP 2-4 error correction at a suggested retail
price of $149.00.

TurboModem supports popular communication standards, including CCITT V.32,
V.22, V.22bis, V.21 Bell 103, and 212A. The versatile feature set includes
automatic Speed Sensing, Auto Dial and Auto Answer Modes, Asynchronous
Communication over Dial-up and Leased lines. Crosstalk data communications
software and RapidFax for DOS fax software will be bundled at no
additional cost.

TurboModem Plus

The TurboModem Plus, either internal card or external unit, integrates
highspeed data transmission and 9600 bps Group III fax giving it maximum
throughput of 57,600 bps.

the background, scanning and faxing in one easy step, printing faxes on
plain paper, and forwarding received faxes from your PC to a local fax
machine. 

Operational Requirements

The TurboModems includes an add-in card, full-featured menu-driven
software, telephone cable, installation guide, tutorial and user's guide.
The product also ships with unlimited technical support and a seven-year
warranty.

The TurboModem requires an IBM AT or 100 percent compatible with an
available expansion slot and hard disk, running MS-DOS 3.1 or later. An
EGA, VGA or Hercules color monitor and compatible control card are also
required.

The TurboModem products will ship July 15, 1992. TurboModem will have a SRP
of $299, TurboModem Plus (internal) will list for $399, TurboModem Plus
(external) will list for $399. All products will be available through The
