SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 4, 1992 -- SunDisk demonstrated today technology
supporting the two newly ratified standards for mass storage on a card
announced by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association
(PCMCIA). SunDisk is currently developing products that adhere to the
PCMCIA-ATA and Auto Indexing Mass Storage (AIMS) specifications.

The PCMCIA-ATA specification incorporates the ATA (AT attachment) mass
storage protocol as a PCMCIA standard for mass storage on a card. The Auto
Indexing Mass Storage (AIMS) specification is an image card standard for
storing image and multimedia data that will allow easy accessibility of
information by a variety of computer platforms.

SunDisk revealed today that it is working with several hardware and
software companies to deliver a solid-state mass storage solution for the
next generation of sub-notebook, pen-based and palmtop personal computer
systems. Among the companies announcing their intention to support the
SunDisk solid-state mass storage solutions were; AMI, Award Software,
CHIPS and Technologies, Databook, Phoenix/Quadtel, Polaroid, Stac
Electronics and Vadem.

SunDisk's technology was selected by IBM as the solid-state mass storage
system for the recently announced IBM ThinkPad. "SunDisk delivered a
complete solid-state mass storage solution for the IBM ThinkPad," said M.
Kathy Vieth, Vice President of Tablet Systems at IBM. "We have had
extensive experience designing and qualifying SunDisk's storage system.
SunDisk's system meets our stringent requirements for a pen computing mass
storage system."

GRiD Systems' new PalmPad pen computing system will also integrate SunDisk
products as a mass storage solution. "'This is a revolutionary advancement
over standard Flash memory cards which require a software Flash file
system," stated Ken Dulaney, Director of Marketing at GRiD Portable
Systems.

Librex Computer Systems will offer SunDisk solid-state mass storage systems
as an option for the Librex T386SX notebook computer. In addition, AT&T
recently announced that it will market a family of Flash memory cards with
capacities ranging from 2.5 to 20 Mbytes per card jointly developed with
SunDisk.

SunDisk is currently shipping the SDI and IDE series of solid-state mass
storage devices and is the only company currently providing true
Flash-based mass storage systems. According to John Reimer, Vice President
of Marketing at SunDisk, "We are working closely with many of the major
industry players planning products for this explosive market segment. We
expect that every robust implementation of PCMCIA-slotted computing
platforms will support the SunDisk implementation of solid-state mass
storage."

SunDisk, founded in 1988, is a privately held venture funded company based
in Santa Clara, California. The company designs, manufactures, and markets
solid-state mass storage systems based on SunDisk proprietary Flash memory
technology. SunDisk has strategic ties with AT&T and a large Japanese
electronics firm, both of which manufacture Flash memory chips for
SunDisk.
