Malvern, Pennsylvania -- June 23, 1992 - Rabbit Software Corporation
announces the achievement of true open architecture PC LAN-to-mainframe
connectivity with the release of its Open Advantage Version 5.2 gateway
for DOS. In addition, under new marketing relationships with Avatar and
Wall Data, Rabbit will market and support these companies' Macintosh,
Windows, and OS/2 3270 clients: Avatar's MacMainFrame and Wall Data's
Rumba.

With support for third party SNA clients besides Rabbit's own DOS and
Windows 3270 software, Open Advantage 5.2 becomes the only gateway which
simultaneously supports both "split stack" and "downstream physical unit"
clients. These new capabilities allow network planners and admlnlstrators
to use not only the workstation platform of their choice, but also any
client software they want.

In a split stack configuration, communication protocols between the
mainframe and a PC are split between at least two PCs on the network --
any user's workstation and the gateway. While this design has some
advantages, the problem it creates for network planners is that the choice
of a gateway could limit their future choices of workstation hardware and
software. This is because in the absence of a clear Industry standard, all
split stack emulation solutions are proprietary.

On the other hand, IBM has established downstream physical unit
communications over a standard called 802.2, and is therefore supported by
many 3270 LAN software packages. Rabbit's Open Advantage gateway
simultaneously supports both split stack communication and downstream
physical unit concentration, opening network architecture to the optimum
combination of proprietary and standard solutions.

"This is our first stage in offering a completely open architecture, where
our gateways can drive the top SNA workstations," said Charles Robins,
Senior Vice President of Technology. "Now, our customers will be able to
choose the best client software solution for each of their operating
systems, as well as the fullest function gateway without compromise."

"Rabbit will be marketing both the Avatar and Wall Data products through
our existing reseller channels," said Peter Craine, Senior Vice President
of Marketing and Sales. "Our customers have requested the capabilities of
these top workstation connectivity products, with the reliability,
control, and support of Rabbit's gateways. Now we can provide these with a
single point of contact for support."

This latest release of Open Advantage allows Rabbit customers to choose
virtually any LAN SNA workstation which supports IBM's 802.2 protocol.
Avatar and Wall Data, the premier software vendors in their respective
markets, have partnered with Rabbit to make their products available under
this feature.

"Avatar's goal is to provide Macintosh users with access to IBM mainframes
via the broadest range of network configurations," explains Dick Sterry,
Vice President of Marketing for Avatar. "Now that MacMainFrame Workstation
Is supported by Rabbit, Macintosh users have another powerful gateway
option for Macintosh-to-mainframe connectivity."

"Just as Rabbit has been an innovator in LAN gateway technology, Wall Data
has been an innovator in PC client software technology." said Michael
Callahan, Wall Data's Manager of Product Marketing. "Rabbit has provided
their gateway users with freedom of choice. They are not locked into a
single workstation solution. With the new marketing relationship between
the companies, customers can purchase Rumba with Rabbit for Windows or
OS/2 through their Rabbit reseller at the same time they upgrade to
Rabbit's latest gateway version.

OPEN ARCHITECTURE SOLUTION

PU Concentration allows users to access a mainframe using existing Rabbit
3270 or APPC emulation software for DOS and Windows, or choose third party
solutions for any type of computer and operating system, including DOS,
Windows, OS/2, and Macintosh. It allows a systems administrator to supply
host access to ail the workstations on a LAN through a common gateway
without consuming valuable host resources. In addition, new users and
workstations can easily and automatically gain host access without
requiring any reconfiguration of the gateway or host computer.

This capability will be available as an update to Rabbit's Open Advantage
for DOS, and will be available for delivery during the third quarter 1992;
it is included in the price of the upgrade to version 5.2. Rabbit Premium
Support customers will receive this upgrade for free.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

Rabbit customers have already expressed interest in the new features of
Open Advantage 5.2 and discussed their plans for putting the expanded
capabilities to work.

For example, at American Honda Corporation in Torrance, California, John G.
Tyson, Information Systems Division Strategic Planner says several
distinct product enhancements in Open Advantage 5.2 should Improve how
users throughout the company access administrative, Sales, and financial
data in host databases.

One of these is the support of downstream physical units. Workstations at
American Honda include the IBM AT/G personal computer -- a model
introduced in the mid 1980's. Because of the AT/G's special graphics
control program, it can't join a token ring network as a logical unit (LU)
through a Rabbit gateway. But the new capabilities of Open Advantage 5.2
allow the AT/G to be a downstream physical unit (PU) on a token ring,
eliminating the need to redefine the workstation to host as a separate
unit.

"We're just getting started in LANs so we had a clean slate, open to the
best solution for us," said Mr. Tyson. "We looked at what was available
and picked Rabbit for ail its features. All of the information about
running our company is in host databases that we'll access through
Rabbit's gateways."

At Delta Faucet Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, where a Rabbit gateway is
already In use. the new features in version 5.2 will allow the company to
add user friendly graphical user Interfaces to customer service and
engineering department applications.

Eric R. Fairhurst, Information Center Analyst, says the new applications
will improve the company's ability to track calls and letters about its
consumer and commercial products. "Our users will access host data through
a Microsoft Windows SQL server, and to do this, we needed a gateway that
works with Rumba, which we're using to develop the new interface,"
explained Mr. Fairhurst. "We're trying to meet a deadline, and support
from Rabbit on their new gateway is helping us to accomplish this."
