June 23, 1992 -- New York (PC EXPO) -- Quicksoft announced today the
immediate availability of PC-Write Advanced Level 4.0, a major upgrade to
its flagship word processor, PC-Write 3.0. The new version, at $89, offers
extensive customization options, giving users comprehensive control over
everyday writing tasks. Plus, the word processor provides easier access to
a more powerful feature set, enhancing user productivity.

"Quicksoft has reached a new milestone with the release of PC-Write
Advanced Level," Leo Nikora, Quicksoft president, said. "The new PC-Write
combines advanced features with improved ease of use. And above all, it is
extremely adaptable to users' needs."

A customizable button bar, improved column support, and advanced mail merge
capabilities top the list of new program features.

PC-Write focuses on user adaptability

PC-Write emphasizes user adaptability with its new button bar, Adapt
feature, Customizer, and context-sensitive help.

Button bar. The PC-Write button bar not only keeps frequently-used commands
close at hand, it adapts to specific tasks. Adding and removing buttons is
simple with PC-Write's logical method of recording keystrokes, accessible
through the pull-down menus. One of four predefined button bars can be
quickly selected through the PC-Write Customizer. And a default button bar
is available upon installation.

Adapt feature. The innovative Adapt feature sets document-specific
profiles. Users can easily design profiles for word processing tasks such
as newsletters, proposals, and memorandums.

This capability is also a successful learning tool for beginners. They can
select basic features, and add more features as they learn. Experienced
users, too, will find the Adapt feature helpful. They can select only the
features they need. Profiles are reflected in the pull-down menus.
Selected features are activated, others don't clutter the menus.

Context-sensitive help. The context-sensitive help system offers another
avenue for adding features. Users can read about features not currently in
their profile and add them if they choose.

Customizer/macros. The Customizer sets over 200 program defaults. Some
options include setting screen colors, cursor key options, and an
automatic file save. Macros add further to program adaptability by
automating common operations to a single keystroke.

PC-Write offers a powerful feature set

Improved column support, advanced mail merge capabilities, and the multiple
windows feature are only a few of the program additions that makeup
PC-Write's rich feature set.

Column support. A logical menuing system automates the process of column
setup. Users need only enter the desired number of columns into the dialog
menu (an interactive pull-down menu field). PC-Write computes the column
widths and separations.

Users can select multiple columns that are equal in size plus an extra
column of any size that can be printed to the left or right of the other
column(s).

Advanced mail merge. The new version adds increased control over the merge
process. Now, users can edit the output on a record-by-record basis during
the merging process. A merge conditional feature, allowing a selected
group of records to be merged from a large list, is included, too.

Multiple windows and more. The multiple windows feature lets users quickly
move between up to 10 documents at one time. New file directory
enhancements make managing large, multiple-file documents easy. PC-Write
imports/exports files between WordPerfect, DCA-RFT, and ASCII. With page
preview, users can view a single document page or two pages side by side
before printing. An extended directory option lets users add file notes to
a DOS-like directory. A spell checker and thesaurus, with 500,000
synonyms, are included.

Ease of use features make users more productive

PC-Write sports a visual and intuitive interface with pull-down menus,
dialog menus, hint lines, and context-sensitive help. The industry
standard pull-down menus offer first-letter selection for all features.

System Requirements

PC-Write runs on IBM PCs and compatible computers with DOS 2.0 or above.
The program requires a minimum of 330K memory (488K recommended) and 200
to 1200KB disk space, depending on program options. Optional requirements
include any Microsoft or Mouse Systems mouse or compatible and a graphics
adapter (required for page preview).
