NEW YORK, June 23, 1992 - NCR Corporation today introduced the NCR System
3000 Model 3331 Multimedia Learning Station, the first member of a new
family of multimedia products from the combination of AT&T and NCR, and
the latest in a series of offerings reflecting the company's commitment to
visual communications/multimedia.

The NCR Learning Station will be used as an on-line business training and
education system for large NCR customers -- such as retailers -- that need
to train new employees frequently.

True 32-Bit Performance

Unlike i386-based, 16-bit multimedia PCs designed for home-entertainment or
classroom use, the NCR 3331 Multimedia Learning Station delivers true
32-bit performance, with a wide pathway to system memory, in a Microsoft
Windows environment. It also comes in a number of powerful
configurations.

These range from the cost-effective "plug and play" desktop i486 SX-based
training workstation to an i486 DX2-powered authoring platform for
creating customized applications that can combine graphic images,
animation and Intel's DVI digital motion video technology, which allows
playback of more than an hour of video from a single CD-ROM.

Just the Beginning

"For business users today, we are delivering a combination of crisp
graphics, stereo audio and full-motion digital video capabilities that
will capture the interest of business

trainees in an interactive way," said Neil Whittington, assistant vice
president, NCR's Multimedia Products Business Unit.

Cost-Effective Training

"Our intent was to create a business tool that is more economical than
traditional classroom-based training, and can be used at any time and in
almost any location. By creating an interactive course, a trainer can
replicate a training course throughout many branch offices, and it will be
useful for a long time to come," said Whittington.

To protect customer investments, NCR has made the 3331 plug-upgradable
through Intel Corporation's new i486 DX2 processor. The Learning Station
supports the widest selection of multimedia applications and development
tools available for Microsoft Windows and includes compatibility with
Multimedia PC Council (MPC) standards.

"In the future," Whittington added, "you can expect to see this product
family exploit the combined expertise of NCR and AT&T Bell Labs in such
technologies as video compression, digital signal processing,
collaborative software environments and integrated system digital network
(ISDN) communications."

In designing the NCR 3331 specifically for business-training applications,
NCR has blended a number of advanced technologies, including: Fluent
Inc.'s software digital video playback, Media Vision Inc.'s high-fidelity
digital audio sound, AimTech's IconAuthor runtime module, NCR's own 77C22
graphics processor, and Intel's i486 microprocessor power, DVI digital
motion video technology and compatibility with MPC standards.

For users, the NCR 3331 Multimedia Learning Station delivers the following
benefits:

** Full-motion digital video, which can be digitally edited at a fraction
of the time and cost of revising analog video.

** CD-quality audio. This is provided by MediaVision's integrated 16-bit
digital audio technology, which allows users to create and alter sounds
using industry-standard MIDI (Musical Instrument Device Interface) or
waveform audio, or play a consumer musical compact disk through the
system. The NCR Learning Station employs space-saving internal speakers
and comes with frontpanel push-button controls, headphone and audio jacks

** Colorful, flicker-free graphics of the highest resolution. For high
performance, the NCR 77C22 graphics chip is closely coupled to the i486
processor. In addition, the NCR 3331 comes standard with a 256-color
palette at 1024x768 resolution.

The NCR 3331 Learning Station also includes a fully featured IconAuthor run
time module to support any IconAuthor course developed on any platform.

Just 5.2 inches high, by 15 inches wide, by 16.6 inches deep (without
monitor), the NCR 3331 offers a choice of video displays, starting with a
14-inch analog color display up to a 15-inch flat screen color VGA
screen.
