IRVINE, CA (June 22, 1992) -- Procom Technology, today announced shipment
of the macCD Station for Apple Macintosh systems, the newest addition to
Procom's family of CD-ROM drives for PCs and Macintosh.

The Procom macCD Station provides up to 650MB of storage or as much as 500
high-density floppy disks on a single CD ROM disc.

The drive will play audio CDs as well as provide multimedia capabilities
which allows the mixing of words with pictures, sound, and in some cases,
animation and snippets of video.

The macCD Station incorporates an external SCSI-interface CD-ROM drive
that's compatible with all Macintosh systems. The drive has been targeted
for educational and reference use, however its multimedia capabilities
make it a cost-effective solution for graphics applications, and a viable
storage option in lieu of filing cabinets and microfiche readers for
government agencies, libraries or businesses with large Macintosh
networks.

Procom's macCD Station is available from leading computer specialty stores
and hundreds of independent dealers and value-added resellers, including
international distributors.

Retail list price of the macCD Station is $845. The price includes Procom's
macCD-LX, a seven CD package, amplified speakers with batteries, and
stereo headphones. The macCD-LX may be purchased separately for $595.

CD-ROM titles included in the Procom macCD Station include:

* Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective from ICOM Simulations -- an
entertainment program with live video and sound.

* Mozart: Dissonant Quartet from Voyager Company. A Hypercarrd-based audio
tour of the works of Mozart.

* Illustrated Encyclopedia from Software Toolworks. An entire reference
book with color and sound.

* World Atlas from Software Toolworks. An entire reference book with color
and sound.

* Introduction to Nautilus by Discovery Systems. An intro to a CDROM
subscription service with shareware and other programs.

* MegaROM by Quantum Leap Technologies. Over 400MB of shareware that's
System 7 compatible.

* A Musical Sampler by Procom Technology. An audio CD with 60 minutes of
classical and jazz favorites.

The macCD Station measures 2.25 x 9.7 x 10.25-inches. Its performance
features include a rotational speed of 200-530 rpm, with an average seek
time of 380 milliseconds, maximum seek time of 650ms, and sustained
transfer rate of 150kb per second.

In addition to providing audio CD playback capabilities, the macCD Station
is QuickTime compatible and supports Eastman Kodak's photoCD
single-session format, which allows photographic images that have been
recorded on compact disc to be displayed or imported into other
applications.
