NEW YORK - June 23, 1992 -- Based on exceptionally strong sales of its
"quiet" technology for dot matrix printers introduced in 1991, Panasonic
Communications & Systems Company (PCSC) Office Automation (OA) Group was
named the number-one vendor in sales of 24-pin dot matrix printers for
1991 by InfoCorp, a leading computer industry market research firm based
in Santa Clara, Calif.

InfoCorp also ranked Panasonic OA second in sales of 7- to 14-ppm laser
printers in 1991 behind undisputed market leader Hewlett-Packard Corp.,
Cupertino, Calif., moving up from its fourth-place position in 1990.

InfoCorp credits Panasonic OA with 28.3 percent of the 24-pin dot matrix
market, compared with 24.1 percent for Epson and 11 percent for Okidata.
In the 7- to 14-ppm laser printer market, Hewlett-Packard continues to
dominate with 50.2 percent, followed by Panasonic OA with 9.9 percent and
Apple with 7.9 percent. Figures were based on total units shipped in
1991.

"By listening to our customers and providing products that meet their
specific needs, Panasonic OA has firmly established itself as the overall
market leader for office printers," said Steve Yuhas, president of PCSC.
'With new features like our 'quiet' technology, scalable fonts, Adobe Type
Manager (ATM) and a color option, our dot matrix printer line offers the
best price performance value in the industry. And we've positioned our
laser printer line as the best alternative to H-P, a considerable
accomplishment given the high level of competition in this category."
