New York, June 23, 1992 -- Funk Software, Inc. today introduced Proxy and
AppMeter, two innovative software products that offer new capabilities to
users and administrators of networked PCs.

Proxy is the first network remote control program to run from Windows.
Proxy's unique ability to control multiple machines at one time adds an
important new dimension to remote computing.

AppMeter provides the network administrator with a powerful tool for
metering and reporting on users' access to applications -- whether DOS- or
Windows-based -- that reside on a network server.

The two products are being demonstrated this week at Funk Software's booth
at PC Expo (booth #4246). Both products are scheduled for shipment in the
third quarter of 1992.

"People who manage a network of PCs for a living, as well as those who want
to move around the network and fully exploit all of its resources, deserve
software tools that are no less flexible and sophisticated than the latest
application software," said Paul Funk, president of Funk Software. "Proxy
and AppMeter extend the boundaries of what PC network users and
administrators can do and how easily they can do it."

Proxy - Your Windows to Multiple PC Power

Proxy is a new network remote control program that lets you take over and
control any PC on your network. You can run up to 8 DOS or Windows
applications on separate PCs simultaneously - and view and control them
all from Proxy. The user can simultaneously execute a diverse array of
applications on separate CPUs, each of which appears in its own window.
Yet since each PC is dedicated to a discrete DOS-based application, all
the processors run at full speed.

Proxy provides centralized access to any machine on your network. With
Proxy you can take over another machine to provide remote help-desk
support or to do trouble-shooting. You can share network resources and
even take advantage of idle machines to get the MIPS you need. Proxy makes
it easy to monitor a machine that is in a closet, on a rack, or on the
other side of the building.

AppMeter - Network Software Usage Metering

AppMeter makes it easy for network administrators to monitor the use of DOS
and Windows applications on their networks, to honor the legal constraints
on number of users per network license agreement, to justify the purchase
of additional licenses when necessary, and to prevent "over-buying" of
additional licenses.

AppMeter is flexible enough to allow the implementation of any software
usage policy. The network administrator can strictly limit the number of
concurrent users of an application to a specified maximum, or can simply
generate "exception reports" when that maximum is exceeded without denying
access. Rights to applications can also be granted by user name and by
group.

AppMeter logs all application usage, and provides current and historical
information to the administrator organized by user, by application, or by
workstation. The administrator can see daily bar graphs on screen showing
hour-to-hour usage for any application. AppMeter also provides virus
protection by checking applications each time they are run to make sure
they have not been altered.

Proxy and AppMeter are the first in a series of network products to be
introduced by Funk Software. Funk Software is best-known for publishing
1-2-3 add-ins, including Sideways, Allways, InWord, Noteworthy, The
Worksheet Utilities, and P.D.Queue.
