Castelle FaxPress 3.0 -- a breakthrough in PC LAN Fax Servers

New York, NY - June 23, 1992 - At PC Expo in New York, Castelle today
announced FaxPress 3.0, a breakthrough upgrade for their LAN fax server
product line. FaxPress 3.0 is a self-contained product--bundling
everything needed to handle office network fax tasks in one,
easy-to-install unit. Having pioneered fax server technology for local
area networks, Castelle continues to provide innovative solutions for the
PC LAN fax server marketplace with FaxPress 3.0 -- offering an optimum
level of productivity including: autorouting; extensive e-mail faxing;
full PCL 5 implementation; complete Windows support; multi-language
capabilities and much more.

"FaxPress 3.0 is not only easy to use, it is an office-wide timesaver and
promises a new level of network productivity that's unheard of in fax
servers," said Castelle President Patrick Linehan.

Castelle has streamlined the concept of network faxing by treating it
either as remote printing from within any application and/or e-mail
delivery. This allows network users to handle all their individual faxing
requirements from their desktop PCs. FaxPress 3.0 offers significant
additions, as well as enhancements of existing features. New additions
include:

Auto-Routing

Auto-Routing is a time- and cost-saving feature that guarantees automatic
delivery of an incoming fax -- right to your workstation. This is a
significant office-wide time saver because it eliminates the need for
office personnel to deliver incoming faxes, or for individuals to leave
their desk to retrieve a fax. Because Auto-Routing eliminates human
intervention, it also provides a highlevel of confidentiality for
materials being faxed. Castelle's auto-routing implementation is both
Direct Inward Dialing (DID), which requires external hardware, and Dual
Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF).

PCL 5 Support

PCL 5 Format supports scaleable fonts and is the most popular printer file
format for HP (and compatible) printers. Seventy percent of the printers
on PC LANs use this format. With the philosophy that fax servers should
fax the same output as printers print, we're committed to having FaxPress
support PCL 5. FaxPress contains a superb PCL 5 because it implements the
genuine Agfa Intelifont technology, the proven Peerless Group technology,
and Castelle's own PCL experience--all of which adds up to high quality,
high performance, and fully compatible PCL 5 faxing.

Link to Novell Bindery

Link to Novell Bindery is a streamlining feature that lets LAN users become
fax server users -- eliminating the need for LAN administrators to define
a user twice. In addition, the MAKEUSR-like utility enables you to add
user names to the system by using the same *.USR files.

Full Integration with Novell Print System

The extensive user preference settings include a choice of default printer.
Every user can define where and how they want to receive their faxes.
Users can choose to receive faxes either on a network printer, a
FaxPress-connected printer, or in their mailboxes. Up to two printers can
be connected to FaxPress 3.0 and can be used as network-shareable printers
serving 32 queues on up to 8 file servers.

Multi-Language Support

FaxPress 3.0 was designed to support translation to languages other than
English, a significant feature for international users.

User Preferences

Customized User Preferences allow users to define a personal set of
defaults to accommodate their preferred faxing procedures. Preferences are
contained in the user's mailbox and include: printer choice options for
users to designate where they want their faxes printed; direct routing
code so that faxes do not have to be delivered manually; a personal PBX
code for cost tracking; inclusion/exclusion of optional cover page; user's
full name for printing on fax cover page; delivered fax options (print it,
store it or both); and more. Supervisors can rely on Castelle's defaults
(the quickest way to define users), copy settings from one user to
another, tailor a setting per user or combine the above.

In addition to these new capabilities, Castelle offers significant
enhancements to the FaxPress 3.0 product, such as:

MS Windows Support

With the enhanced MS Windows support, users will be able to access most of
the fax server's functionality from within Windows 3.0 and 3.1
environments. This means you no longer have to leave Windows and go to DOS
to access certain FaxPress functions. Windows support will include the PCL
5 and the Postscript (optional) re-director drivers and the fax alert
mechanism that announces all incoming and outgoing fax activities. A
Windows application will let you manage phone book functions, and send,
view, print, route, and save faxes.

E-Mall Faxing

E-Mail Faxing is significantly enhanced to let users send, receive, view,
print, and route faxes using the MHS-compatible e-mail application.
Castelle has fully integrated FaxPress with e-mail systems so users can
fax as easily as sending an e-mail message, without having to learn a new
user interface. A single FaxPress can simultaneously handle DOS, Windows,
and e-mail users.

Phone Books

Enhanced Phone Books will save you both time and major phone troubles. The
phone book features make it possible for a work site to use the existing
internal contact databases on the network. You can create and define your
own personal phone book on top of a static company-wide book (that can
only be edited by an operator or supervisor). Each phone book entry holds
extensive information about the fax destination, including recipient name,
company name, voice and fax numbers, bill back codes and comments.

FaxPress 3.0 will be available this Fall for either Novell NetWare or IBM
LAN Server and Microsoft LAN Manager. FaxPress comes with either a single
or dual phone line option. The dual line enables simultaneous sending and
receiving. A free upgrade will be offered to customers who purchase
FaxPress 2.2 after May 1, 1 992 when they send in their warranty
registration card. Customers who purchased FaxPress prior to May 1, 1992,
will be able to buy a software upgrade kit. The prices for FaxPress 3.0
and the software upgrade kit have not been set at this time.
