Adobe Illustrator 4.0 for Windows now available

Special upgrade price offered to owners of other drawing programs

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 11, 1992)--Adobe Systems Incorporated said today
that Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software for the Microsoft Windows environment,
announced on January 27, 1992, is now shipping in volume to Adobe
authorized distributors and retailers.

The principal new features of Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software include
editing in preview mode, on-screen text entry and manipulation, advanced
graphing capabilities, improved color selection, on-line,
context-sensitive help, performance enhancements, and extensive import and
export file support. A shared file format among the Windows, Macintosh and
NeXT versions of the program provides cross-platform compatibility for
users of Adobe Illustrator software.

Special upgrade offers 

The new Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software package includes the Adobe Type
Manager (ATM), Adobe TypeAlign and Adobe Separator software programs, 40
Adobe typefaces and a selection of Adobe predrawn artwork, an over $2,000
value for the $695 suggested retail price of the Adobe Illustrator
program. Registered Adobe Illustrator-Windows customers can upgrade to
version 4.0 for $99 and receive a free copy of Adobe Streamline 3.0 for
Windows.

Through August 31, 1992, new purchasers of the Adobe Illustrator 4.0 retail
software package will receive, at no additional charge, Adobe Streamline
3.0 software for Windows, a $195 value. Adobe Streamline software is used
to convert color and black and-white bitmapped images into PostScript
language line art, and is fully compatible with Adobe Illustrator 4.0 for
Windows and other popular Windows drawing programs. For additional

$199 on Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software for Windows to owners of the
following drawing applications: CorelDRAW!, Aldus Freehand for Windows,
Micrografx Designer, Arts & Letters Graphics Editor, Harvard Draw and
Digital Research Artline. The upgrades can be purchased from Adobe
authorized retailers.

The minimum requirements for Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software for Windows
are: IBM or compatible 386- or 486-based personal computer; 4 MB RAM; hard
drive and one floppy drive (1.2 MB 5.25 or 1.44 MB 3.5); DOS 3.3 or higher
with Windows 3.0 or 3.1; VGA or Super VGA 16-bit or 24-bit display adaptor
supported by Windows; any PostScript printer or other Windows supported
graphic output device.
