Lowell, Mass. (June 22, 1992)--Expanding its position in the PC market,
Wang Laboratories, Inc. today unveiled

* three aggressively-priced desktop PCs with innovative built-in audio
capabilities and (on two of these models) accelerated video, for users who
want to take advantage of the latest Microsoft Windows features for
business computing;

* three high-performance servers for database, document storage and
retrieval, and high-volume imaging applications, with a highly modular
design that permits easy field upgrades of the CPU;

* a compact, light-weight, 386SL-based notebook PC.

"The new capabilities we have built into our latest PC models clearly
demonstrate the Wang Personal Computer Systems Division's commitment to
deliver market-edge technology with a full line of PC products offering
the quality, features, value, and support required in the business and
government markets," said James J. Hogan, president, Personal Computer
Systems, at Wang.

"But at Wang we're not just talking about technology; we're talking about
productivity," Hogan said. "By exploring the value in our technology,
users can capitalize on our office and imaging expertise to fulfill the
promise of productivity now and in the future. This approach is an
integral part of Wang's OFFICE 2000 strategy, under which the company is
committing all of its resources to a breakthrough in office
productivity."

"With the introduction of our new family of Wang personal computers, Wang
PCs now stand in a leadership position by offering integrated, market-edge
technologies at prices that compete head-on with those of the latest
models from other brand-name vendors," added Kevin A. DeNuccio, director
of Wang PC Sales and Marketing for the Commercial and Government Market.
"Plus, Wang offers added value by providing a worldwide network for
education, training, service, and support."

The three new Wang desktop PCs support audio capabilities, such as voice
recording, editing, and playback, within the Microsoft Windows 3.1
graphical environment through a circuit built into the motherboard. Thus,
users can add spoken comments to other files, such as a spreadsheet or a
word processing document, in applications that take advantage of
Microsoft's Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) technology for adding audio
information into other types of files. These systems range from a
33-Megahertz (MHz), 486DX-based model to a 25MHz system built around an
803865X-compatible microprocessor.

Two of these desktop models (based, respectively, on a 33MHz 486DX and a
25MHz 486SX microprocessor) also feature local-bus video technology for
accelerated performance in applications using a graphical user interface.
The added graphics performance also makes these systems an excellent
platform for many imaging applications.

Wang's new high-performance servers are based on Intel Corporation's i486
CPU and feature the 32-bit EISA (Extended Industry-Standard Architecture)
bus. The three servers are based, respectively, on a 50MHz i486DX2, a
33MHz i486DX, and a 25MHz i486SX microprocessor. Housed in a distinctive
chassis that is very flexible, yet compact, they are ideally suited for
use as local area network servers, host computers, or high-end computers
for demanding applications.

Wang's new notebook PC is based on a 20MHz 80386SL microprocessor and
offers a wide range of desktop functions in a compact, lightweight case.

All models will be unveiled at PC Expo, which will take place from June 23
to 25 in New York City.

The systems are designed for the commercial and government office computing
markets. Distribution channels will be Wang's direct sales organization,
which primarily targets major business and government accounts, and the
two-tier distribution channel, which delivers PC products to value-added
resellers (VARs) who service the mid-size business market.

Pricing for the desktop systems starts at $1,695 for the PC 461/33C, $1,295
for the PC 461/25SC, and $815 for the PC 351/25S. These diskless base
systems include 4MB of memory for the PC 461/33C and the PC 461/25SC, and
2MB of memory for the PC 351/25S; a highly integrated system board that
includes audio circuitry, super-VGA video capability, a hard disk
interface and a diskette controller; and a keyboard.

Server prices start at $4,195 for the TC 480/50C, $3,995 for the TC
480E/33C, and $3,595 for the TC 480E/25SC. These base configurations
include 4MB of memory, 128KB of cache memory, 5 external and 8 internal
disk drive bays, and a keyboard.

The notebook system has an introductory price of $2,099.

The desktop models and the notebook system are available immediately. For
the servers, initial shipments are scheduled for July, with volume
shipments to start in August.
