FARGO, ND, June 9, 1992 -- Great Plains Software today became the first
accounting software developer to announce its commitment to Univel's new
operating system, UnixWare SVR4.

Great Plains Software is participating in Univel's Early Access Program and
will offer Great Plains Accounting for UnixWare when the operating system
ships at the end of the third quarter. Great Plains Accounting for
UnixWare expands Great Plains' UNIX market strategy of developing
accounting software for the leading UNIX platforms.

In making the announcement, Doug Burgum, president and CEO of Great Plains
Software, stated, "With Novell backing Univel and SVR4 integrating with
NetWare, UnixWare will give a real boost to the Intel/UNIX accounting
software marketplace. The higher level of interoperability presents an
exciting profit opportunity for existing UNIX and NetWare accounting
VARs."

Great Plains' long-term strategic alliance with Novell, Inc. dates back to
1986 when the company was among the first to provide sophisticated
multi-user accounting software for the NetWare operating system.

"We are very pleased to have Great Plains Software participate in our Early
Access Program. Their industry-leading accounting package, Great Plains
Accounting, will contribute to our mission to bring the most powerful,
easy to use UNIX operating system with mainstream applications to the
end-user," said Joel A. Appelbaum, Univel president and CEO. "Now users
can improve productivity by being able to access corporate data across the
full range of computing platforms."

Great Plains began developing accounting software for the UNIX market in
1989 and currently offers a complete line of Intel-based accounting
software tools for AT&T UNIX 386 and SCO UNIX/Xenix 386 systems. The UNIX
environment features ideal qualities Great Plains customers can benefit
from, including interoperability, centralized processing and multi-user
and multitasking capabilities. Most Great Plains Accounting modules are
priced at $995.
