FROM PORTABLE TO MOBILE TO DESKTOP AND BEYOND, KODAK DEMONSTRATES RANGE OF
PRINTERS AT PC EXPO

June 23, 1992 -- NEW YORK--From portable ink-jet printers to
continuous-tone color printers that produce photographic-quality images,
Eastman Kodak Company is demonstrating a wide range of printing options
here at PC Expo, in booth 2460 at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

The computer world will get its first look at the Kodak Diconix 701
printer, a compact 300- x 300-dpi ink-jet printer designed to provide
laser-quality output for mobile applications. The show also marks the
first public demonstration of the Kodak professional RFS 2035 film
scanner, a high-speed desktop unit that scans 35 mm negatives or slides at
resolutions up to 2,000 dpi.

Kodak is backing its ink jet and electrophotographic printers with new
promotions at the show, including a special PC Expo rebate on all Kodak
Diconix printers. (Editors: See separate release.)

Along with these printers, Kodak is showing its full family of thermal
devices-- including the new Kodak XLT 7720 printer, which produces
photographic-quality continuous-tone images and is designed for
presentation graphics.

The thermal printers will output images from the Kodak Photo CD system,
which will be available to computer users later this summer for desktop
publishing and a range of other applications.

"Visitors to the show will see how the Kodak Diconix and Ektaplus printers
bring productivity where PC users need it--at home, in the office, or on
the road," said Richard D. Lorbach, vice president and general manager of
Kodak's Digital Pictorial Hard Copy and Printer Products Division. "Our
thermal printers, combined with new input options like the rapid film
scanner and the Kodak photo CD system, make high-quality color imaging a
more cost-effective option than ever before."

Kodak Printers

Kodak printers being demonstrated at PC Expo include:

** Kodak Diconix 701 printer--a laser-quality, ink-jet printer designed for
mobile applications in a DOS environment. Fully functional in the office
and portable enough to take on the road, the Diconix 701 printer provides
300- x 300-dpi resolution with a space saving 86.6-square-inch footprint.

Features of the Diconix 701 printer include a built-in sheet feeder that
holds up to 30 pages of plain paper or transparencies; print speeds that
are as fast as many competitive laser-based printers; and better print
quality and lower noise levels than dot-matrix printers.

Introduced in March, the Diconix 701 printer has a suggested list price of
$549. It is being backed by a major summer promotion offering a free print
head and other incentives to customers.

** Kodak Diconix 180si printer--weighs under three pounds (without
batteries) to provide high-quality, inkjet printing for DOS applications
that is truly portable. An LED control panel gives users easy control of
the Diconix 180si's tractor-fed, single-sheet or transparency output.
Suggested list price for the 180si is $399.

** Kodak Diconix M150 plus printer--a portable inkjet printer designed for
use with Macintosh Powerbooks and other Mac computers, which comes
furnished with MacPrint, Adobe Type Manager (ATM) and other software. The
M150 Plus carries a suggested list price of $449.

** Kodak Diconix color 4 printer--provides high-quality color documents on
plain paper or transparency material, available in versions for DOS or
Macintosh applications and affordable with a suggested price of $895.

** Kodak XLT 7720 and XL 7700 digital continuous tone printers--two members
of Kodak's expanding family of thermal dye sublimation printers. The new
XLT 7720 produces page-size, photographic-quality color images for
business presentations and other uses from personal computers and
workstations. It is designed to provide high quality overhead
transparencies in a single pass of Kodak Ektatherm media, which lowers
media costs and improves productivity for service bureaus and other
high-volume producers of transparencies.

The XLT 7720 complements the award-winning Kodak XL 7700 printer, a similar
unit geared to making photographic-quality prints (color or
black-and-white), that produces high-quality transparencies in two passes
of media. The XLT 7720 can be purchased for about $25,000, and the XL 7700
for about $20,000.

** Kodak S6600 series printer--A smaller-format thermal dye sublimation
that prints high-quality continuous-tone prints or transparencies in a 4x5
format for applications in medicine, design, scientific research,
engineering and others. The S6600 series printer is priced at about
$4,300.

** Kodak Ektaplus 7016 printer--a simple-to-operate 16-ppm page printer
that doubles as a six-copy-per-minute convenience copier. The Ektaplus
7016 is a shared printer that supports both DOS and Macintosh systems
simultaneously. The PostScript version carries a suggested price of
$5,795; the non-PostScript version is $4,495.

Last year, Byte magazine recognized the Ektaplus 7016 printer with an award
for innovative engineering. The 7016 also is being featured in a Kodak
summer promotion, offering customers who purchase one a $200 rebate and
free supplies, as well as incentives to dealers.

** Kodak Ektaplus 7008 printer--is designed as a high-performance,
high-quality printer for standalone users or office workgroups. The
Ektaplus 7008 is an eight-ppm laser printer for DOS systems. With 1.5
megabytes of random access memory, the printer can handle text, graphics
or a combination of both. The suggested list price for the 7008 is $1,395.

New Film Scanner

Introduced earlier this month, the Kodak professional RFS 2035 film scanner
provides 6 million pixels of resolution, and is compatible with both
DOS-based and Macintosh computers.

The new desktop unit features auto exposure, auto color balance, both fixed
and adjustable film channels, and an auto focus provision. Positioning is
made easy with a fixed film gate that accommodates a strip of six
negatives or four slides.

With plug-in acquire modules, users can import scanned images directly into
popular image management software programs including Adobe Photoshop and
Aldus PhotoStyler.

Priced under $8,000, the RFS 2035 provides a high-speed, high-resolution
scanning option for uses including desktop publishing, where its direct
computer connection allows images to be easily integrated into traditional
and custom prepress; applications photojournalism, for newspaper, magazine
and image transmission applications; and medical and scientific
laboratories, where high resolution and true color reproduction are
critical to proper analysis and documentation.

Photo CD System

Kodak's family of thermal printers will be used to demonstrate output from
an innovative new computer imaging option--the Kodak Photo CD system,
which allows 35 mm film images to be stored at full photographic
resolution on compact discs.

Consumers will shoot pictures as they normally would, using 35 mm cameras
and color (or black-and-white) negative or slide film. When they bring
their film to the photofinisher for processing, they will have the option
of ordering a Photo CD disc in addition to the negatives and prints or
slides they ordinarily receive.

Images from the Photo CD disc also can be viewed and manipulated on
computers using CD-ROM XA drives. The disc can be used in new Photo CD
players, which will play audio CDs in addition to displaying pictures on
television.

Printers at PC Week Booth

Kodak printers will be visible other places than the Kodak booth at PC
Expo.

At PC Week magazine's PC Expo booth, #418, Kodak printers will be featured
as part of the publication's demonstration of more than 40 laptop
computers. The demo will employ eight Diconix 701 printers and four
Diconix 180si printers for output.

Visitors also will see the 701 printer promoted on the show's Jumbotron, a
largescreen color projection device seen by thousands of visitors to the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
