NEW YORK, June 23,1992 -- Epson America's new 486-based EISA computer, the
Epson EISA Series, is now available in desktop and tower designs. In
addition, Epson is shipping two new ISA machines, the Equity 486DX2/50
PLUS and Equity 386/33 PLUS. All are available through Epson Authorized
Resellers.

The Epson EISA Series

The EISA Series is ideal for use with CAD/CAM, multitasking, networking and
data processing. A choice of 486SX/25, 486DX/33 or 486DX/50 processor
boards allows customized, ugradeable configurations. Users can determine
which chassis, processor type, storage media and operating system best
meet their requirements.

Steve Huey, vice president of the PC and Solutions Business Unit, said "The
EISA Series is an extension of Epson's PC line that takes advantage of
today's fast processors and advanced architecture. The systems have the
powerful performance and security features required for MIS and
data-intensive environments."

Along with fast, 486 processing, the systems incorporate Intel's 350DT EISA
chip set for high levels of integration as well as seamless support for
processor upgrades.

Dual-ported memory architecture results in faster throughput by allowing
the processor and EISA bus to access the RAM independently. Flash ROM
accommodates updates to the BIOS through diskette-based utilities. The
user can download new ROM data from a floppy disk, speeding upgrades to
support compatibility and new processors.

The Epson EISA Series also provides comprehensive expansion options. For
enhanced 32-bit performance, the tower model includes eight 32-bit I/O
slots; the desktop version has five. The base memory of 4 MB can be
increased on the system board to up to 64 MB. Math coprocessor sockets are
located on the processor boards. (Both the 486SX and 486DX boards provide
Weitek coprocessing support; the 486SX/25 board also supports Intel's
80487SX and OverDrive options.)

Multiple drive bays -- six on the tower version, five on the desktop
version -- accommodate disk drives and other devices for storage-intensive
applications. Maximum expandability is achieved through an optional SCSI
host adapter that supports up to seven peripherals per host adapter.

Manufacturer's suggested retail prices are as follows: $2,199.00 for the
desktop model and $2,799.00 for the tower model. A functioning system
requires a VGA Option Kit at $249.00 and a CPU Acceleration Kit at
$1,299.00 for the 486SX/25 version, $2,099.00 for the 486/33 version, or
$2,499.00 for the 486/50 version. Both the desktop and tower models are
Novell certified; certification and qualification procedures are underway
with Banyan, DEC, SCO and 3Com.

486DX2/50 Features Clock-Doubling Capability

The Equity 486DX2/50 PLUS is designed for value-oriented business users who
require advanced speed, high-resolution video and maximum expandability.
It is one of the first systems to incorporate Intel's "clock doubling"
microprocessor, which dramatically increases performance without a large
price increase. Compatibility with MS-DOS, OS/2 and UNIX environments
provides functionality as a stand-alone workstation, network node or
host/file server. The 486DX2/50 has the power for desktop publishing,
graphics, CAD/CAM and multimedia applications in multitasking or Windows
environments.

The system board on the Equity 486DX2/50 PLUS incorporates 1024x768 VGA
support, 4 MB of standard RAM (expandable to 16 MB via SIMMs) and a 240 MB
hard disk drive. In addition to the 8 KB memory cache integrated into the
Intel 486DX2 microprocessor, the computer has a secondary 32 KB cache that
enhances processing efficiency. Further storage and expandability is
provided by five drive bays (three external, two internal) and six ISA
slots.

Manufacturer's suggested retail prices are $3,299.00 for the single-floppy
version and $3,899.00 for the single-floppy, 240 MB hard drive version.

386/33 Offers Value For Home or Business

Epson's Equity 386/33 PLUS is a fully-featured, competitively priced system
for general business applications. A fast, 33 MHz processor speeds
performance for spreadsheets, desktop publishing and graphics. An
easy-access case incorporates features that are standard on Epson's family
of desktops: integrated FDD and HDD controllers, ports and 1024x768 VGA
support. The Equity 386/33 PLUS has 4 MB of RAM that is expandable to 16
MB, and a 64 KB cache that allows zero wait-state performance.

Work-at-home users can take advantage of this system to run the same
386-based software they use at work. Manufacturers suggested retail prices
are $1,799.00 for the single-floppy version; $2,199.00 for the
single-floppy, 120 MB hard drive version; and $2,299 for a configured
model with MS-DOS 5.0 and Windows loaded on a 120 MB hard drive.

To further enhance the value of its new PCs, Epson offers on-site service
during the one-year warranty period.
