Everex Introduces SL/25 Notebook with Removable 80MB Hard Drive and
Built-in Trackball at $2699

PC Expo, New York--June 23, 1992--Everex Systems, Inc. today introduced the
Carrier SL/25, the first notebook computer with a removable hard drive and
built-in trackball. The 5.8-pound computer, based on the Intel 25MHz 386SL
processor, features 64K internal cache to bring powerful 32-bit processing
to notebook computing.

Genelle Trader, vice president of marketing, said: "Users today want
notebook computers with all the features and functionality of a desktop.
The Carrier SL/25 provides them with exactly that. The removable hard
drive is a significant new feature that our customers have asked for.
Users can easily remove the hard drive for added data security, and
several users can use the same notebook at various times and always keep
their applications and data with them on the small 2.5-inch drive."

The Carrier SL/25 also supports APM (Advanced Power Management), a key part
of Microsoft's recent Power Management Initiative. APM defines the power
management relationship between hardware and software in several ways to
provide maximum power efficiency while ensuring compatibility. One of the
most visible benefits of APM is the appearance of the power icon in the
Windows 3.1 control panel--which provides a battery fuel gauge.

Other Carrier SL/25 features include:

* Optional desktop drive adaptor for interoperability
  between desktop and portable environments
* Uninterrupted battery exchange allows user to "hot swap"
batteries without stopping or suspending an application.
Each battery weighs only 12.8 ounces.
* Battery recharge time of 50 minutes--industry
fastest/operates in either AC or trickle charge
* Built-in virus detection at system level
* Simultaneous display on CRT and LCD--beneficial in
  presentation-type situations
* Flash BIOS for easy upgrade by floppy disk
* Instant power-on capability by opening lid
* Multilevel Power Management, with application-compatible
  Suspend/Resume
* Easy upgradeability path with user-installable memory,
  coprocessor and internal modem

The standard configuration of the Carrier SL/25 includes 4MB RAM and the
removable 80MB hard drive. The unit, priced at $2699, will begin shipping
in July. A configuration featuring a removable 120MB hard drive will be
priced at $2999. Designed by Everex, the Carrier SL/25 will be
manufactured by Everex in Fremont, California.
