Adobe Streamline 3.0 for Windows now available

New version designed for seamless compatibility with Adobe Illustrator 4.0

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 11, 1992)--Adobe Systems Incorporated said today
that Adobe Streamliner 3 0 software for the Microsoft Windows environment,
announced on January 27, 1992, is now shipping to Adobe authorized
distributors. Adobe Streamline 3.0 is used to convert color and
black-and-white bitmapped images into PostScript language line art and is
designed for complete compatibility with Adobe Illustrator 4.0 for Windows
and other popular drawing and page-layout programs.

The suggested retail price of Adobe Streamline 3.0 software for Windows is
$195. Registered users may purchase an upgrade for $49. For the first 90
days, the Adobe Streamline program will also be included free with Adobe
Illustrator 4.0 software. Adobe Streamline runs under both Windows 3.0 and
Windows 3.1.

"We have received a very positive response from dealers and our customer
beta test sites that Adobe Streamline 3.0 software fills a real need for
graphics professionals using Windows-based computers," said Brian
Heuckroth, senior product marketing manager for Adobe's Application
Products Division.

Adobe Streamline 3.0 software produces line art from color and greyscale
bitmapped image files, using either contrast, thresholding or
posterization conversion. Preproccessing tools such as the magic wand,
eyedropper, pencil and eraser enable users to edit colors and lines in all
or selected parts of any bitmap.

Postprocessing tools allow users to smooth and delete vector curves in
converted images and substitute process or custom colors for the colors of
the original bitmap. Colors are selected either with an on-screen color
picker, by choosing percentages of process color, or from the original
bitmap using the eyedropper tool.

To simplify production of PC-based forms, the line recognition feature
detects and straightens off-registered lines from scanned forms, while
also automatically removing text.

The user interface of the Adobe Streamline 3.0 program is compatible with
Adobe Illustrator 4.0 software for the Windows environment. A status bar
displays zoom level, number of paths selected, and percent completed.

Context-sensitive help is accessible from any point in the program, and the
users can store converted artwork in a variety of file formats including
CGM, .DXF, WMF and HPGI.. In addition, PostScript language support on the
clipboard facilitates cut-and-paste with Adobe Illustrator software.
