Powerful Windows NT Operating System Supported By AcerFrame Multiprocessor
Platform

June 23, 1992 -- Reflecting its commitment to support the 32-bit Microsoft
Windows NT advanced operating environment on its high-end AcerFrame
systems, The Acer Group will offer a technology demonstration of Windows
NT on the AcerFrame 3000MP multiprocessor platform at PC Expo, held June
23-25, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in NY.

The Acer Group was the first vendor to demonstrate Windows NT on a
MIPS-based Advanced RISC Computer (ARC) workstation with the AcerARC1, at
Fall Comdex '91. Today the company once again has shown its technology
leadership as the first vendor to run the hardware-independent Windows NT
operating system on an Intel-based, fully symmetric multiprocessor
platform.

"Offering the robust Windows NT operating system on AcerFrame products
further enhances our ability to deliver a wide range of open systems
solutions to corporate customers who previously relied on proprietary
workstations and midrange servers," said Ronald Chwang, president and COO
of Acer America Corporation a subsidiary of The Acer Group. "It is part of
our continuing strategy to support open system computing solutions through
our leading-edge technology and commitment to industry standards."

As a flexible, 32-bit operating system, Windows NT provides many of the
features found in the UNIX System, while also lending itself to full
compatibility with Microsoft Windows, MS-DOS and OS/2 applications.
Developed for powerful, high-end hardware systems capable of running
Windows feature sets, Windows NT provides such advanced features as:

o Higher security
o Pre-emptive multitasking
o Integrated networking
o High-performance I/O system
o Support for symmetric multiprocessor systems

In addition, Windows NT complements Windows versions 3.0 and 3.1 for
desktop systems by offering the same user interface and application
support.

"The AcerFrame/Windows NT platform provides the performance and advanced
operating system features required to implement mission-critical
applications, traditional multiuser environments, client/server computing
or downsizing strategies," Chwang observed.
