SciSo, Inc. of Albuquerque announces the release of SpecPlus(tm), 1.0.

SpecPlus is a powerful hypertext document reading and annotation tool,
uniquely tailored for the PC-based workgroup - with a man-machine
interface emphasizing accessibility for the intermittent user - the expert
in his/her technical field, not in his/her toolset.

SpecPlus provides multi-dimensional access to information in the source
document - both text and graphics - in the various ways users are
accustomed to working in paper documents. The user's own annotations are
attached to reference points in the source document. SpecPlus allows for
serial, random and search navigation through the source via the user's own
annotations, as well as via the direct source docuument serial, random,
hypertext and search hooks. The system has been designed to accommodate
large documents - multi-thousand page source documents, 20,000 character
annotations and both public and private annotations attached to each line
of the source document. SpecPlus includes an extensive graphics-based
hierarchical help facility, selective export capabilities and a convenient
set of automated aids for import and update of the user's source
document.

SpecPlus operates in (minimally) an 8MB MS/DOS-based 486/DX33, invisibly
interfacing the Asymetrix ToolBook, Raima Data Manager and Microsoft
Windows environments. Licenses for run-time use of the enviornments come
with SpecPlus. The single user version is available for $5,000 (quantity
discounts available), and a network version starts at $20,000.

SciSo president, Elizabeth Gardner, notes that SpecPlus brings us
dramatically closer to the goal of "making paperless practical", so as to
enhance document user group efficiency and to control the proliferation of
paper in the workplace.
