CE Software Announces QuicKeys 3.0

West Des Moines, IA, July 26, 1993 - CE SOFTWARE HOLDINGS, INC. (NASDAQ/
NMS Symbol: CESH) today announced the impending release of QuicKeys 3.0, a
new version of its award-winning QuicKeys desktop automation software. The
company announced that the North American release will be August 16,
1993.

"Over the years, we have spent hundreds of hours discussing what QuicKeys
is and should be," said Donald Brown, vice president of CE Software and
lead engineer of QuicKeys. "QuicKeys 3.0 represents the culmination of our
development process. We conducted market research with our users and with
our potential market. QuicKeys is finally what we set out to build .... an
irreplaceable tool for every Macintosh user. Our customers can now
delegate to their computers."

A refined user interface and enhanced, powerful shortcut recording methods
are responsible for the breakthrough. The product ensures that valuable
repetitive and time-consuming tasks are easily identified for replacement
by QuicKeys shortcuts. A wide variety of shortcuts may be designed to
automate commonly-used actions within applications and within the
Macintosh operating system. Additionally, QuicKeys offers a wide variety
of "triggers" to invoke shortcuts such as timers, key combinations,
computer/application start-up, icons, menu choice and more. The company
will be announcing its plans in the area of voice recognition in the
upcoming days. Additionally, QuicKeys is now OSA (Open Scripting
Architecture) compliant and can interact with other OSA compliant products
such as AppleScript and Frontier.

"It is the unique ability of QuicKeys' to interact with non-scriptable
applications that makes our OSA compliance so powerful," said Ford
Goodman, president of the company. "Most scripting technologies rely on
application vendors to make their products scriptable. QuicKeys (as well
as ProKey, CE's desktop automation product for Intel platforms) is founded
on the principle that users should be able to delegate to their computers
without regard for standards. Customers should not be reliant upon
standards which may or may not be followed by their application vendors.
With QuicKeys 3.0, we can do much more than build and trigger QuicKeys
shortcuts -- we can trigger and interoperate with AppleScript, Frontier
and any other OSA compliant scripting language. Any application that can
run an OSA compliant script can run QuicKeys shortcuts and scripts
seamlessly. Our customers gain both the productivity that delegating to
their computers implies plus a growth path available through a variety of
scripting and programming languages."

Users of QuicKeys 3.0 can delegate tasks to their computer in a variety of
ways. Instant QuicKeys walks users through an interview of how they use
their system, while creating dozens of shortcuts for delegating tasks such
as launching applications and desk accessories, selecting server volumes
or printers, typing text, or dialing a phone number. QuicKeys can record a
users steps while working with the computer on a routine task. QuicKeys
will now accomplish that vital task at the users command. Other benefits
include the ability to delegate tasks to the function keys on the extended
keyboard and to map a numeric keypad onto the PowerBook keyboard.

QuicKeys version 3.0 will be available through CE's authorized distributors
and resellers worldwide. The U.S. suggested retail price is $169.00.
Registered users of QuicKeys 2.1.2 and greater may upgrade to QuicKeys 3.0
for $49.95. If upgrades are purchased by 9/30/93, users will receive a $10
discount. Registered users of versions earlier than 2.1.2 may purchase the
upgrade for $79.95. All upgrade offers expire 11/30/93. International
customers should contact their local distributors for availability and
pricing.
