FOREX INTRODUCES FULLY-FEATURED, HIGH-END PENTIUM CHIPSET FURTHER EXPANDING
PRICE/PERFORMANCE RATIO

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 23, 1993 -- FOREX Computer Corporation extended
its chipset I.C. product offering for the systems integrator and OEM
marketplace with the announcement of its FRX58C601/602 Pentium Caching
Chipset. Targeted at application developers, early implementors and power
users, the FOREX Pentium 601/602 chipset offers high-end performance with
the popular Intel processor technology. FOREX is well-known for its
aggressive pricing matched with high performance, and this product is no
exception. With an impressive list of features, the product will quickly
attract the high-end PC market.

Supporting up to 66MHz CPU speed, the fully integrated cache controller can
direct map up to 2 MB of cache to up to 128MB of main memory, greatly
eliminating the bottleneck that comes from slow main memory access. This,
in turn, takes advantage of the full power of the CPU to provide the fast
data transfer rates that graphics processing, multimedia and large file
sizes require.

Write-through and write-back, caching policies for updating main memory
with data in the cache, come standard with the FOREX Pentium chipset. An
added plus is that this product offers concurrent write-back, allowing the
write buffer to free up the host data bus in a minimum amount of time. By
updating the first and second level caches before writing the data from
the write buffer to main memory, the CPU is able to access requested data
with minimum latency. Freeing the CPU for the next task greatly increases
the overall efficiency of the system.

Unlike many Pentium chipsets that only offer 1-level DRAM post write, the
highly optimized FOREX chipset DRAM controller supports 4-level DRAM post
write buffers, speeding along Windows and other memory intensive
applications. This offers added flexibility for the developer, and
dramatically boosts the speed and performance of graphic-intensive
environments like Windows 3.1, OS/2 or the new Windows NT.

The FOREX Pentium chipset provides the opportunity of implementing Pentium
and 486 processors on the same motherboard, which allows end users to take
advantage of presently lower cost 486s. Later, they may upgrade to the
more powerful Pentium processor when the cost of these new, higher-end
processors becomes more affordable.

FOREX has taken a slightly different approach to the ever-increasing demand
of large data file sizes and memory intensive applications, by positioning
their product at the upper end of the scale. These applications put
significant strain on a processor and system, and in order to be
effective, the high-speed architecture of the FOREX chipset has been
engineered to support these tasks.

Supporting both synchronous and asynchronous interface between CPU and VESA
bus, the CPU can run at different speeds while taking advantage of maximum
speed through the VESA bus. In addition, the FOREX Pentium chipset's
support of SMM mode (System Management Mode), a popular feature allowing
the system the option to enter a power saving mode, controls both CPU and
peripheral power consumption.

"Designed with a truly high-performance and flexible architecture, our new
chipset will lead the Pentium offerings current available on the market",,
said Jay Tseng, vice president of engineering for FOREX.

The FOREX Pentium chipset will be available for evaluation and development
early 4th quarter '93. The FOREX chipset will initially be sold through a
solid following of OEMs and systems integrators in the U.S., Far East and
Europe.

Founded in 1990, FOREX is a privately held company specializing in the
development and manufacture of chipset I.C. products and board level SCSI
controllers for the systems integrator, OEM and VAR PC market.
Headquartered in San Jose, CA, FOREX continues to introduce new, high-end,
price/performance products for the ever-changing PC products market. FOREX
products are sold worldwide through a network of distributors and OEMS.
