STALKER SHIPS LINESHARE 2.0 FOR MACINTOSH

August 16, 1993---Stalker GmbH. announced it is now shipping LineShare 2.0.
LineShare is a Control Panel that enables a Macintosh, using just one
telephone line and one serial port, to have any number of communications
servers open, making them all simultaneously available for incoming or
outgoing calls. With retail pricing of $79, LineShare 2.0 is available
direct to end users from Global Way, an authorized U.S. reseller based in
Campbell, CA. Upgrades are free to registered users with a minimal charge
for shipping and handling.

LineShare 2.0, creates "virtual ports" and registers them with the
Communication Toolbox (CTB), designating virtual subports for each
communication application. For each virtual subport, LineShare emulates a
Hayes-compatible modem. At the same time, LineShare connects to the actual
modem and monitors the line with user-selectable scripts to control the
modem. LineShare arbitrates and routes incoming calls to the correct
application, and directs outgoing calls to the actual modem. With
LineShare, users can concurrently have AppleTalk Remote Access, TeleFinder
(bbs), QuickMail (e-mail), WhiteKnight (data), Notify! (pager), and FAXstf
(fax) all open and able to accept incoming or make outgoing calls using
just one serial port and one phone line. With LineShare users save money
and gain functionality. They can avoid the expense of adding dedicated
telephone lines, and they no longer must bother with having to quit or
suspend one application to use another.

LineShare 2.0 now supports Caller ID features implemented in new modems
with the ability to capture text strings and save them to a Log File. Its
scripting language now supports the use of wild-card characters and
includes a built-in debugger that lets users define how a modem will work
with any application. A variety of scripts shipped with LineShare 2.0 can
distinguish different types of data calls, automatically routing ARA,
data, mail, or bbs calls to the appropriate application. It is also
capable of sending a text- menu to callers so they can choose the service
they wish to connect to. Additionally, LineShare 2.0 offers Master Servers
that can be used to route calls from one application to another. If a
voice-mail application, after answering a call with voice prompts, detects
that a call should be routed to some other application, it can send a
message to LineShare to route the call to the appropriate program. System
7 and CTB compatible, LineShare supports Hayes-compatible modems and Fax
Class 2.
