APPLE EXPANDS EDUCATION PRODUCT LINE AND MARKETING PROGRAMS AT NECC '93

New Technologies, Programs, Leadership Grants Aimed at Providing Educators
with Media Rich Learning Tools

ORLANDO, Florida--June 28, 1993--In keeping with the theme of the 1993
National Educational Computing Conference (NECC), "The Magic of
Technology,'' Apple Computer, Inc.'s K-12 Education division today
announced a suite of new products and strategic programs that embrace
several exciting new technologies and showcase Apple's continuing
commitment to provide compelling technology solutions for education.

Unveiled for the first time as part of a worldwide product introduction,
Apple introduced the Apple Macintosh LC 520, an all-in-one computer system
designed for the needs of education customers. The new LC 520 features
sophisticated media capabilities including an integrated CD-ROM drive,
high-quality stereo sound, vibrant color display and Energy Star
efficiency. Apple also debuted the Personal LaserWriter 300, its most
affordable and energy efficient laser printer offering high quality, low
cost printing and sharing capabilities ideally suited to the needs of the
education market.

"As the leader in education, Apple is committed to the continued
development of advanced technology solutions that allow educators to
create authentic learning environments,'' said Cheryl Vedoe, vice
president and general manager of Apple's K-12 Education division. "These
two products reflect our on-going commitment to create powerful learning
tools that are affordable, easy-to-use and energy efficient."

In a press briefing held today at NECC, Apple also announced an expanded
product direction that focuses on providing tools and technologies aimed
at the preschool segment of the education market. Apple detailed its plans
to offer special hardware and software solutions bundles designed for
preschool students, as well as training and productivity solutions for
teachers and administrators of preschool practices.

"In keeping with the Goals 2000 initiative of ensuring learning readiness,
we believe it is critical that the preschool population has equal access
to the same technology-rich solutions that have proven successful for K-12
students," noted Vedoe. ''The integration of multimedia into early
learning curriculum, for example, is an especially compelling solution for
preschool students, teachers and administrators.''
