RACAL-DATACOM EXPANDS VALUE ADDED RESELLER PROGRAM

July 19, 1993 -- SUNRISE, FL -- Racal-Datacom has announced a new U.S.
sales and marketing program to expand activities with its current VAR
partners, and attract new value added resellers (VARs).

Under the direction of Jim Kennedy, vice president of Distribution and
Strategic Sales, the new Racal-Datacom VAR Partners program is aimed at
increasing the sale and range of Racal products and services through its
VAR channel. The program includes lead referral, sales and technical
support, and nationwide training and certification for VARs on the sale
and support of Racal's full line of local area and wide area networking
products and service contracts.

"A multiple sales channel strategy is critical to our success," Kennedy
stated. Industry sources estimate that $20 billion, or 66 percent of the
data communications market is now sold through indirect channels such as
VARs. "The company is committed to increasing customer satisfaction by
complementing our direct sales force with value added resellers, " Kennedy
added. "We have formed a channel marketing group, headed by Lynn Bishop,
who has in excess of 20 years experience in channel marketing with both
Texas Instruments and Hall-Mark Electronics. His group is dedicated to the
development of our indirect channels."

Racal Products and Support Services Now Available to VARs

The new program greatly expands the offerings now available to VARs to
include the full range of Racal's LAN/WAN systems and network services.
Products include INX intelligent wiring hubs, Excalibur digital access
products, Omnimux time division multiplexers and RNX bridges and routers,
among several other offerings. Additionally, VARs are now able to sell
Racal installation and maintenance contracts to fully support their
customers.

"The objective of the program is to equip our VARs to better serve the
total networking needs of the customer," Kennedy stated. To that end, the
company is providing VARs with access to dedicated systems engineering,
Racal's worldwide service organization and other technical and network
support services.

The VAR Partner program kicked off with a 10-city nationwide approved level
training series. During each of the four-day training session,
participating VARs and their technical staffs are provided with the
information and training they need to begin selling and supporting Racal
products and services. Additional technical training will be required for
a VAR to be certified. Once certified, the VAR will be eligible for
account co-marketing relationships with Racal's direct sales force, and
other special marketing programs.

The VAR Partner program is designed to develop strong partnerships with
35-40 of the top VARs in the data communications industry. Racal has
already established relationships with 23 select resellers. Additional
VARs will be added to support targeted market areas.
