New LabVIEW Application Notes Cover Fast Fourier Transforms and Power
Spectra and Linear Systems

June 25, 1993 -- Austin, TX-National Instruments has published two new
application notes on its multiplatform LabVIEW graphical instrumentation
software. The new application notes are titled "Fast Fourier Transforms
and Power Spectra in LabVIEW" and "Linear Systems in LabVIEW."

The first application note, "Fast Fourier Transforms and Power Spectra in
LabVIEW," discusses properties of Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs) and how
to interpret and display FFT results. The note also covers how to
manipulate FFT and power spectrum results to extract useful frequency
information.

The second application note, "Linear Systems in LabVIEW," describes the
difference equations for discrete-time and time-invariant linear systems
and how to use LabVIEW block diagrams to implement these equations. The
note also discusses the Z transform, signal flow graphs, discrete input
and output sequences, and an example that models a simple, linear,
time-invariant system.

About LabVIEW

LabVIEW is a general-purpose graphical programming package with extensive
libraries for data acquisition, instrument control, data analysis, and
data presentation. With LabVIEW, engineers and scientists build software
modules called virtual instruments (VIs) instead of writing text-based
programs. LabVIEW runs on Windows-based PCs, Macintosh computers, and Sun
SPARCstations. Typical LabVIEW applications include laboratory automation,
automated testing, automotive and aerospace engineering, process
monitoring and control, physiological monitoring, and personal
instrumentation.
