FIELDWORKS ANNOUNCES SHIPMENT OF CLEANUP 4.0 & PURGE 4.0 ADD-INS FOR
BORLAND'S PARADOX

MORENO VALLEY, CA, May 16, 1993 -- FieldWorks Development Company today
announced the immediate availability of Cleanup 4.0 and Purge 4.0, add-ins
for Borland's Paradox relational database. Cleanup 4.0 provides Paradox
users with over 40 name, address and case formatting options that enhance
existing records or speed data entry. Purge 4.0 provides duplicate record
flagging, merging, and deletion using intelligent filters and soundex
techniques for near-match duplicate checking.

"Purge 4.0 provides users with unparalleled power to maintain and update
large databases. By taking maximum advantage of Paradox 4.0's windows-like
interface, Purge 4.0 makes the task of comparing and editing flagged
records easier than ever," said David L. Terrie, president of FieldWorks
Development Company. "Cleanup 4.0 and Purge 4.0 provide users with
powerful tools for more effective database marketing."

Paradox 4.0 sets new standards for DOS-based relational database management
systems. With a windows-like user interface, tremendous power and
performance gains, enhanced network performance and expanded Paradox
Application Language, PAL, Paradox is ideal for a wide range of users. It
includes the industry-standard Query By Example (QBE) for fast interactive
database querying.

Cleanup 4.0 More Flexible Than Ever

Cleanup 4.0 features dialog box-based option selection for easy creation
and modification of "formats". Options include gender look up for first
names, full name parsing and punctuation, address abbreviation expansion
or standardization, and case formatting in field-specific proper case.
These formats automatically enhance existing or new records in the tables
they work on. New features include customized default field names and
widths, more flexible name enhancement and parsing options, a new
CityStZip field type, and selection of custom data entry forms. In
addition, all lookup tables are easily customized to meet particular
needs.

Moreover, developers may create applications that incorporate both formats
and flag generation schemes by making a few simple calls to the Cleanup
4.0 or Purge 4.0 libraries. An Unlimited Distribution License enables
developers to distribute custom applications at a very low cost.

Purge 4.0 Features New Master Table Option

Purge 4.0 features dialog box-based option selection for easy creation and
modification of duplicate checking "schemes". Split-screen browsing makes
comparing and merging flagged records easier than ever. In addition, a
powerful new "Master-Update" option builds keys into "Master" tables.

These Master table keys comprise two fields: a flag string created by
pre-selected filtering options, and a unique tie-breaking digit. This
dual-key feature eliminates key violations for duplicate flags while still
enabling fast queries for possible duplicates. Because only "Update"
tables require key generation, users can easily and speedily update very
large databases.

When Purge 4.0 has generated the Master table's key, options are available
for flagging duplicates within the Master table itself or between the
Master table and an Update table. When Update table records are flagged
and queried against a Master table for possible duplicates, Purge 4.0
generates three tables: one with flagged Master table records, a second
with flagged Update table records, and a third with unflagged Update table
records. In addition, a new streamlined editing facility for batch updates
enables record insertion or replacement, and field value replacement,
addition or subtraction, all with a single click of the mouse. Flagged
records may update Master table records, be added to the Master table, or
be subtracted from the Master table.

Further, a new Data Entry mode supports multi-table forms for maintaining
Master tables with linked detail tables in one-to-one and one-to-many data
models. Master table records may be browsed freely. Users may enter new
records, generate their flags, and post them when ready.

After generating a new record's flag, users can quickly test for Master
table records with the same flags. As with editing flagged batch update
records, users may replace Master table records with Update records. Users
may replace Master fields with Update fields, and add or subtract Update
field values from Master field values, all with a single click of the
mouse. Users can even opt to use Cleanup 4.0 formats to speed data entry
if a format exists for the Master table.

Both the original peer-to-peer option, which analyzes up to 12 tables of
any structure as a group, and the new master-update option, take full
advantage of Paradox 4.0's improved query engine to speed analysis of
large tables.

"With FieldWorks Cleanup 4.0 and Purge 4.0 users gain maximum impact from
their Paradox 4.0 generated mailing lists," said Daniel Klaussen, Paradox
product manager for Borland. "Cleanup 4.0 and Purge 4.0 give users the
tools to insure accurate mailings, eliminating duplicates and providing
consistent address information, including the use of proper titles,
expanded abbreviations, and more."
