NetSoft Unveils Version 3.0 of Elite/400 Emulators for Improved
Windows-to-AS/400 Connectivity.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA, July 26, 1993 -- NetSoft has announced version 3.0 of
Elite/400 IWS and Elite/400 DSP, the company's 5250 emulators for
Windows-to-AS/400 connectivity. Highlights of the new product roll-out
include:

* A new, high-performance file transfer system 50% faster than competing
products.

* A new, third-generation application called the NS/Router.

* Support for Novell's NetWare for SAA using the SPX ll protocol.

* Support for Twinax links (Elite/400 IWS and DSP are the only Windows
based 5250 emulators for Twinax that work with a Windows based Router).

* Printer emulation for Elite/400 DSP.

* Variable font sizing, menu bar hiding, and other enhancements.

"These new capabilities offer the Windows user dramatically improved
performance and value," said Russ Hertzberg, NetSoft's director of product
marketing. "Our file transfer function is the fastest on the market, our
new NS/Router vastly improves performance in all network environments,
while support of Novell's advanced-technology SPX II transport protocol
optimizes LAN/WAN connections."

THE ELITE/400 FAMILY

The Elite/400 software family includes:

* Elite/400 IWS (Intelligent Work Station), a client software product
providing display emulation, printer emulation and file transfer
capabilities. The Windows-based NS/Router replaces IBM's DOS-based PC
Support Router.

* Elite/400 DSP (Display Station Passthrough), a client software product
providing display and printer emulation, while eliminating the need to run
IBM PC Support programs on the host AS/400. The NS/Router replaces the PC
Support Router on the client PC.

* Elite/400 LAN Gateway, a server product providing client-to-AS/400 access
via token ring, Ethernet or ARCnet LANs running NetBIOS or NetWare
IPX/SPX. Elite/400 IWS and DSP can communicate through the Elite/400 LAN
Gateway. Third party emulators such as IBM's DOS Workstation Feature (WSF)
can also run through the Elite/400 LAN Gateway.

* The NS/Router, a client/server engine for Windows to AS/400
connectivity.

PRICE, PACKAGING, AND AVAILABILITY

The price of Elite/400 IWS 3.0 has been reduced from $395 to $295.
Elite/400 DSP 3.0 is also available for $295. The NS/Router is priced at
$95 as a separate option. The NS/Router and the file transfer system are
included with Elite/400 IWS. The NS/Router is also included with Elite/400
DSP. All products will be available for customer delivery in August.

IMPROVED FILE TRANSFER PERFORMANCE

NetSoft has implemented a state-of-the-art Windows file transfer system as
a standard feature of Elite/400 IWS. Benchmark tests have shown that the
system is 50% faster than the "Transfer Function" supplied with IBM's
Extended DOS PC Support client software for the AS/400. In addition, it
supports more data types and is fully compliant with version 2, release 2
of IBM's OS/400 operating system. Extensive Windows dialog boxes are
available for performance feedback throughout the entire transfer process.
Users can easily structure query requests, from record and field levels
all the way to complete files. They can browse through AS/400 data bases,
specify fields, and create data selection criteria all without having to
leave the Windows graphical user environment.

The file transfer system is fully compatible with the host PC Support
Transfer Function, and will even read existing client .TTO and .TFR
description files. DOS PC Support transfer function users will find the
migration to the Windows file transfer system's graphical environment a
rewarding experience.

ADVANCED NS/ROUTER

Elite/400 IWS and Elite/400 DSP version 3.0 come equipped with NetSoft's
NS/Router as a standard feature. The NS/Router, introduced today by
NetSoft in a separate announcement (see related news release), is the
advanced APPC client-server protocol engine that allows Elite/400 to
function as a pure Windows solution for enhanced reliability, ease of use,
increased performance and improved security. NS/Router also features an
IBM standard API. In contrast, other Windows-based 5250 software products
must run on top of IBM's DOS-based PC Support Router, creating a variety
of installation, reliability, performance, and security problems.

SPX II SUPPORT

Elite/400 IWS and DSP can now run on client PCs connected to a NetWare for
SAA server running Novell's new SPX II transport protocol. "NetWare 4.0
and SPX II deliver substantial performance improvement on NetWare LANs,"
said Mr. Hertzberg. "Many of our large SNA enterprise customers want to
use AS/400s as database servers, while continuing to use their NetWare
LANs for remote file access, e-mail, and other LAN services.

Elite/400 is the ideal solution for Windows users in this environment. It
provides AS/400 application access while delivering on the performance
improvement potential of NetWare for SAA and SPX II"

"Elite/400 with the NS/Router is more than a pure APPC protocol engine," he
continued. "When used with NetWare for SAA, it is the industry's first
hybrid APPC/LAN protocol engine for seamless LAN/WAN connectivity from
within Windows."

TWINAX SUPPORT

While the previous versions of Elite/400 IWS and DSP supported a wide range
of SDLC adapter boards, version 3.0 has now added support for most
available Twinax adapter boards. Elite/400 IWS and DSP are the only
Windows based 5250 emulators for Twinax that can be used with a Windows
based Router (the NS/Router).

Elite/400 IWS and DSP can be used with any Twinax board that includes an
IBM PC Support compatible adapter handler interface. This includes Twinax
boards from IBM, Andrew, AST, IDEAssociates, Micro Integration,
Memorex/Telex, and many others.

OTHER ENHANCEMENTS

Complete printer emulation has now been added to Elite/400 DSP version 3.0,
matching the printer capabilities already incorporated into Elite/400 IWS.
Printer emulation support is broad based and flexible, including IBM 3812
(laser printer), IBM 5219 (letter quality) and IBM 5224 (dot matrix).

With the new Variable Font Sizing feature, it is now easier for Windows
users to view wide-screen data such as 1 32-column session displays. Users
can pan across the display screen using selected font sizes.

The new Menu Bar Hiding feature allows Elite/400 IWS and DSP to be
configured so that the menu bar is not visible to the user. This allows IS
management to simplify AS/400 host access for selected users.

NETSOFT

NetSoft develops, markets and supports PC-to-mainframe and PC-to-midrange
connectivity products for multiprotocol networking environments. Products
are available for DOS, Windows and OS/2, communicating over a wide variety
of connections, including Coax, Twinax, SDLC, 802.2, Async, X.25, TCP/IP,
IPX/SPX, SPX ll and NetBIOS.

Founded in 1980, NetSoft (formerly Network Software Associates, Inc.)
offered its first-generation software under the product name AdaptSNA. In
1990, NetSoft introduced its second-generation technology in the form of
the Elite product line. Today's introduction of Elite/400 3.0
incorporating the new NS/Router marks the debut of the company's
third-generation technology, called New Systems (NS) technology.
