MITSUBISHI ELECTRONICS INTRODUCES THIRD GENERATION LINE OF FLAT SQUARE
COLOR MONITORS

CYPRESS, Calif., July 15, 1993 -- The Display Products group of Mitsubishi
Electronics America, Inc. today introduced a new line of three
high-resolution color monitors featuring flat square cathode ray tubes
(CRT). More than six years ago, Mitsubishi developed and introduced flat
square monitors and is now the first leading color monitor manufacturer to
incorporate third generation technology in its new line, which includes
the Diamond Scan 15FS, the Diamond Scan 17FS and the Diamond Pro 21FS.

With the introductions, Mitsubishi offers the marketplace the most diverse
monitor product line available. Mitsubishi's product line includes models
with conventional spherical and vertically flat, square-cornered Trinitron
CRTs, as well as the new flat square technology.

"The introduction of our third generation flat square line reaffirms our
technology leadership role and enhances our ability to provide customers
with a wide selection of products to fit their needs," said Craig Sloss,
product marketing manager.

The monitors feature a flat square CRT with an Invar mask for sustained
high brightness levels without the adverse effects of doming. Because of
their flatter face-plates, flat square monitors offer a higher degree of
visual acuity and glare reduction, which provides a sharper image for
applications ranging from windowing environments to CAD/CAM/CAE.

"Mitsubishi's new flat square line delivers an increasingly popular CRT
type, high quality and performance, a wide range of the most sought-after
features and one of the best service and support programs in the business
with the high reliability for which Mitsubishi Electronics earned its
reputation," said Sloss.

Each of the models in the flat square line features an ultra-fine 0.28 mm
dot pitch; a VGA-compatible signal cable with Apple Macintosh II, LC and
Quadra adapters available at no charge; two-year parts/labor warranty and
an ergonomically-designed, compact enclosure with a tilt-swivel base. To
provide the highest levels of display accuracy, the new 17-inch and
top-of-the-line 21-inch models employ Dynamic Beam Forming, which reduces
the image distortion found at the edges of any monitor not equipped with
this feature. The three monitors also meet international guidelines for
low magnetic emissions.

The monitors feature easy-to-operate, microprocessor-based user controls
located on the front panel. The digital scan mode memory stores a mixture
of factory preset and user-definable set-up parameters for 10 to 20
different operating frequencies (depending on the model), with display
parameters remaining constant when switching between frequencies. User
controls also adjust brightness, contrast, vertical size and position,
horizontal size and position, factory preset recall, degauss and
pincushion.

DIAMOND SCAN 15FS

"In the popular 15-inch category, the Diamond Scan 15FS will appeal to
general business Windows and Macintosh users who want a very high quality
flat square monitor at a competitive price," said Sloss. The monitor
features a maximum high refresh flicker-free resolution of 1024 x 768 at
76 Hz non-interlaced with an MPU-based auto-scanning range of 30 to 62
kHz.

The unit also supports all IBM-compatible VGA, SVGA, XGA-2 (including
flicker-free VESA standards) and Apple Macintosh LC, Macintosh II and
Quadra (832 x 624) graphics standards. The monitor is also equipped with a
high-contrast, anti-glare CRT for a more pleasing viewing surface. The
Diamond Scan 15FS is available at a suggested retail price of $645.

DIAMOND SCAN 17FS

For general business, desktop publishing (DTP), multi-media and cost
conscious CAD/CAM/CAE users who require a high-performance monitor with a
larger viewing area than a 14- or 15-inch, the Diamond Scan 17FS provides
high refresh flicker-free resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 at 74 Hz
non-interlaced. The monitor's MPU-based auto-scanning range of 30 to 78
kHz is compatible with all VGA, SVGA, XGA-2, VESA, Apple Macintosh LC,
Macintosh II and Quadra graphics standards. The Diamond Scan 17FS is also
equipped with Mitsubishi Electronics' exclusive Diamond Match Color
Calibration System, which stores up to three different factory-aligned or
user-definable sets of color temperature parameters to provide precise
control of on-screen colors to match hardcopy or Pantone colors in desktop
publishing or broadcast graphics applications.

The unit is also the first to feature Mitsubishi's exclusive new optical
quality anti-static and anti-glare coating on a high-contrast tinted CRT.
"With the Diamond Scan 17FS, Mitsubishi presents customers with a high
performance, flat square alternative to our highly-acclaimed Diamond Pro
17. In addition, the unit can be sold in volume to corporations for under
$1,000*, which is a critical price point for Windows upgrades," said
Sloss. The suggested retail price for the Diamond Scan 17FS is $1,299.

DIAMOND PRO 21FS

Offering the highest levels of monitor performance, including a maximum
resolution of 1600 x 1280 non-interlaced, the Diamond Pro 21FS is equipped
for advanced CAD/CAM/CAE and DTP applications. With an MPU-based
autoscanning range of 30 to 78 kHz, the monitor is compatible with all
current and proposed VGA, SVGA, XGA-2, VESA, Apple Macintosh LC, Macintosh
II and Quadra graphics standards, as well as all UNIX workstations. The
monitor also features Mitsubishi's new optical quality, high contrast,
anti-static and anti-glare CRT coating.

"For the past five years, Mitsubishi Electronics has been the leader in the
20- to 21-inch monitor category. With the Diamond Pro 21FS, we are able to
offer five application-specific products in this size class and continue
our leadership position," said Sloss. The Diamond Pro 21FS is available at
a suggested retail price of $2,999.

All three models are currently available to resellers through authorized
Mitsubishi Display Products distributors in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
