Logitech Announces New OCR Power for Hand-Held Scanners

OmniPage Direct AnyFont OCR Software for Logitech Offers Direct Access from
Windows Applications; Meets Special Needs of Hand-Held Scanning

Fremont, Calif. -- June 28, 1993 -- Logitech is introducing an OCR (Optical
Character Recognition) software package tailored for the ScanMan family of
Windows-based handheld scanners. OmniPage Direct AnyFont OCR Software for
Logitech uses Caere's AnyFont OCR recognition engine, AnyPage technology,
and an OCR utility approach that allows users to scan and recognize text
from within virtually any Windows application.

The Logitech version of OmniPage Direct was designed specifically for
Logitech by Caere Corporation. Available in July, it will be sold
exclusively in conjunction with Windows-based ScanMan hand-held scanners.
Various upgrade plans are available for existing Logitech customers with
CatchWord Pro, Perceive Personal, CatchWord DOS, or any ScanMan product.

"Our users are increasingly demanding reasonably priced yet highly accurate
and complete image-and-text solutions for the hand-held scanning
environment," says Patricia Smith, Logitech product manager. "OmniPage
Direct AnyFont OCR Software for Logitech offers the power of Caere's
recognition technology and useful set of basic tools while leaving the
bells and whistles' -- such as spell- and grammar checking, cutting and

makes for a product that's highly functional yet very easy to use."
