PeopleSoft Introduces Client/Server Position Management
Expands PeopleSoft HRMS Offering with New Functionality

WALNUT CREEK, CA, June 14, 1993--PeopleSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:PSFT) today
announced the addition of Position Management functionality to the
PeopleSoft Human Resource Management System, PeopleSoft HRMS.

Available immediately for all supported platforms, Position Management
enables customers to organize their human resource system by position
instead of by employee. By focusing on the position itself, users can
track information related to the position, such as a specific phone number
or mail stop, whether or not an employee holds the position. PeopleSoft is
the only HRMS vendor offering integrated Position Management functionality
for true client/server, distributed processing environments.

Position Management is ideal for those large companies, including utilities
and healthcare organizations, in which jobs and job descriptions change
infrequently. Users always have access to position information because the
system tracks data by position, not by the employees who fill those
positions. Users can also access data specific to selected positions as
the basis for organizational planning, recruitment, career planning and
budgeting.

David Duffield, president, and chief executive officer of PeopleSoft,
commented, "PeopleSoft continues to raise the bar with the best, new
functionality for the HR industry. Position Management offers our
customers a practical and flexible alternative to traditional human
resource management systems organized by employee."

About Position Management

Position Management is a new component of the PeopleSoft Human Resource
(PS/HR) product within the PeopleSoft HRMS family. Users can implement
PS/HR using Position Management for the entire company or can choose
partial Position Management for select departments or managerial levels.

Position Management tracks positions based on characteristics associated
with the work to be performed, such as a location, department,
responsibility and work schedule. Through these characteristics, PS/HR
allows users to track data at a greater level of detail than by using job
codes. Position Management uses an integrated, table-driven design to
help-organizations keep an effective-dated history of all positions in the
company, whether or not they are filled. Position Management enables users
to perform the following six major functions:

* Create and Track Position Data--Companies can track and maintain
historical and current information related to a position, whether or not
an employee is in that position.

* Process Employee Appointments by Position--Assigning new employees to a
position is a simple matter of linking a position number to an employee.

* Maintain Incumbent Data--Position Management automatically updates
overlapping position information that appears in an incumbent's employee
records when changes are made to position data.

* Maintain Organizational Structures--Establishing hierarchical information
for an organization is easy--users can show reporting relationships by
linking positions with the Reports to Position field.

* Budget for Positions by Department - Users can create departmental
budgets at multiple levels, depending on the level of detail they want to
see. Budgets can be set for a department as a whole, by job code, or by
each position in a department.

* View Incumbent, Position, and Budget Histories--This gives users a quick
way to get information on past and present incumbents, position, and
budget data.
