Twenty-four Leading Systems Vendors to Deliver Microsoft Windows NT
Platform to Customers 

High-end Desktops, Workstations, Servers Planned on Intel- and RISC-based
Platforms

ATLANTA--May 24, 1993--Twenty-four leading computer hardware manufacturers
today announced plans to ship products based on the Microsoft Windows NT
operating system. Their products offer customers an unprecedented choice
of systems on which to implement business-critical, client-server
solutions, including PCs, workstations, servers and large-scale business
systems.

Paul Maritz, senior vice president of the systems division at Microsoft
Corporation. "Not only do they offer a fantastic choice of hardware, but
they also bring the best in integrated systems and services to customers
of Windows NT. Corporations will be able to draw on the tremendous
expertise these vendors have developed in years of providing high-end
business systems."

Companies making announcements today included Acer; ALR; AST Research,
Inc.; Compaq Computer Corporation; Digital Equipment Corporation; Dell
Computer Corporation; DeskStation Technology; Gateway 2000;
Hewlett-Packard Company; IBM Personal Computer Company; ICL Personal
Systems; Intel Corporation; Intergraph Corporation; NCR; NEC Technologies;
NeTpower; Olivetti; Sequent Computer Systems, Inc.; Siemens Nixdorf;
Silicon Graphics/MIPS; Texas Instruments, Inc.; Unisys Corporation; Wyse
Communications; and Zenith Data Systems.

These announcements mark the first time that the Microsoft Windows
operating system has been available for so many types of corporate
computing platforms. The systems announced today include 386, 486 and
Pentium-based systems, as well as RISC-based systems that include MIPS
R4000 and R4400 as well as DEC Alpha--all ranging in size from one to 32
CPUs. This scalability of Windows NT is a prime benefit for corporate
computer users who seek to share information, applications and processing
in client-server environments. It lets them choose their vendors and
platforms, integrate new hardware with their current environments, and run
thousands of MS-DOS and Windows-based productivity applications alongside
their client-server software.

Vendors of Windows NT-based systems will be able to deliver to corporate
