OTTAWA, Ontario -- June 2, 1993 -- Eight international artists have been
awarded top honors in the Fourth Annual CorelDRAW World Design Contest.
Held at the National Gallery in Ottawa, Canada on May 20th, 1993, the
Design Contest featured over 3300 designs from over 40 countries

"I'm speechless," said Phoenix resident and Best of Show winner, Georgina

front of more than 1,000 international guests.

Asked how she'll invest her grand prize, Curry responded, "I'll use the
gold to purchase advanced computer equipment for my business and to attend
professional graphics seminars throughout the country."

Curry's design, "Clara Bow" earned her the "Best of Show" award as well as
first place in the category of Environmental Illustrations. Curry's prize
package is valued at over $50,000. Corel will feature Curry in an
international print advertising campaign. Of the 56 finalists, first place

accommodation. Finalists also received prizes contributed by Panasonic,
Adaptec, Tektronix, Microsoft and Corel.

This year's contest also featured a new Student's category open to youth 18
years and under. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, and currently a Victoria, British
Columbia resident, Alan Chiu took top honors in the Student category.
Chiu's landscape design, Ta Hu Lake, earned the 17 year-old a $3,000
scholarship.

"The World Design contest has become a tradition among Corel and CorelDRAW
users around the world," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and CEO of
Corel Corporation. "On the same day that we gather each year to launch a
new and more powerful version of CorelDRAW, we also gather to celebrate
new levels of international artistic achievement."

"These artists have chosen computers as their vehicle for communication,
and CorelDRAW as their media for artistic expression," said Aili Kurtis,
creative director for Corel Corporation. "They are explorers who, sensing
no limits to creative possibilities, expand the ways humanity can express
itself."

Similar to previous years, Corel will publish the designs from the 1993
Design Contest in ArtShow 4, a full-color coffee-table book and companion
multimedia CD-ROM. Set to launch in fall 1993, this year's ArtShow will
feature more than 3300 designs from over 40 countries. ArtShow has become
a valuable reference for users as it allows them to view and learn
techniques used by CorelDRAW experts around the world. To date, ArtShow
'91 and '92 have sold over 50,000 copies.

Appropriately held in the Grand Hall, at the National Art Gallery of
Canada, the Awards Night Gala capped-off a day of events that also marked
the launch of CorelDRAW 4 -- the most recent release of Corel's
award-winning Windows graphics software. Other events held the same day
include product training seminars and panel discussions geared toward
Corel's international distributors.
