PRENTICE HALL ANNOUNCES PRACTICE ADVANTAGE SOFTWARE FOR MANAGEMENT OF
ACCOUNTING FIRMS

ATLANTA, June 14 -- Prentice Hall Professional Software today announced the
release of version 2.01 of its comprehensive new time and billing system,
Practice Advantage. The product features a state-of-the-art interface with
the "look and feel" of today's newest business software packages. This
design, including consistent commands and screen layouts, pull-down menus,
lookup lists, and field-by-field help, makes Practice Advantage easy to
learn and use.

"Practice Advantage is designed to save time and money and maximize
profitability by adapting itself to the way the firm is designed, not the
other way around," said Paul Worden, Marketing Product Manager for
Practice Advantage. "Practice Advantage also has features and flexibility
that will enable it to adapt to changing requirements in the future." The
fully networkable system, which can also be used on a single PC, offers
easy transaction entry, flexible billing and accounts receivable (AR),
concise reports, and simple master file setup.

Transaction Entry

Practice Advantage supports on-line or batch mode transaction entry.
On-line entry immediately updates the work-in-progress (WIP), which is
then available without delay for billing and reports. Batch entry permits
the grouping of transactions for review before updating WIP. On-line
verification, duplication of data entry fields, service multipliers, and
time-saving error correction methods keep keystrokes to a minimum.

Billing and Accounts Receivable

Practice Advantage offers both on-screen and hard copy billing worksheets
for one or a group of clients. The accountant chooses to bill all or
selected WIP by client, staff, or service and determines the possible
automatic billing of fixed fees, sales tax, and finance charges. Practice
Advantage offers the accountant customization of invoice text using up to
999 user-defined descriptions as well as modification of invoice text
prior to the updating of AR files. AR accepts open-item or balance-forward
presentations for statements. The accountant personally controls receipt
application through the selection of the oldest invoice, a specific
invoice, or multiple invoices. Practice Advantage generates reports by
locations, principal, client, in-charge biller, manager, supervisor, or
staff.

Concise Reports

Some of the financial and management reports produced by Practice Advantage
include:

* Revenue/profitability reports for staff and clients.
* Productivity reports for staff time, staff changeability
analysis, production analysis, staff rate realization, hours
by day and month, and non-billable analysis.
* Billing worksheets, invoice amount by service code, billings
to principal client, and net write-up and write-down reports.
* WIP reports, including a journal of WIP transactions, WIP
  adjustments, and aged WIP transactions.
* AR ledger with and without aging, AR Aging, and client
  investment limit reports.
* Multiple year production/billing trend reports.

Master File Setup

Basic Practice Advantage implementation requires only four master files,
with 10 additional files available for more detailed implementation. The
software identifies clients as "active" "inactive," or "prospect" and
provides 10 custom client data fields for maximum versatility. Practice
Advantage stores up to 10 assigned billing rates for each firm employee,
with the option to include 10 more future billing rates. Practice
Advantage also enables the accountant to define up to six aging periods of
equal or different lengths, specified by number of days, calendar months,
or firm accounting periods for both AR and WIP.

System Requirements

First deliveries of Practice Advantage are scheduled for June. Systems are
priced from $595, with network upgrades beginning at $295 to accommodate
more simultaneous users on a local area network. Practice Advantage
requires 525K of free RAM, DOS 3.1 or later, and an 80286 based PC. The
program runs on IBM and 100% compatible computers. A color monitor, DOS
5.0, and an 80386 or 80486 based PC are recommended.
