New Switching Options for PC/104 Modules Add Flexibility

June 11, 1993 -- BEVERLY, Massachusetts --- Form-C or Single pole double
throw (SPDT) switching capabilities are now available for a series of
PC/104 compatible modules available from DDI, Inc. Two Form-C models have
been added to the Series 5600 Relay Output Control modules, which provide
low-cost switching solutions for a variety of embedded PC/104 computer
applications.

"The Form-C models are a customer-driven addition to our product line,
which will further broaden our range of switching solutions," says Erik
Valeur, president of DDI, Inc. DDI, Inc. is a member of the PC/104
consortium. PC/104 products support the MiniModule architecture for
embedded PC-compatible computers.

The DDI model 5656 is a Form-C, reed-contact module fitted with eight reed
relays. The model 5666 is a Form-C, hard output module with eight
electromechanical relays. Both are ideal for automating testing of many
devices, particularly when used with DDI Series 5700 input modules.

The DDI Series 5600 consists of fifteen 3.6 x 3.8 x 0.6 inch,
PC/104-compliant cards. The DDI cards are also compatible with Ampro
Computers PC/104-compatible minimodule and CoreModule, as well as other
vendor's PC/104 cards. The Relay Output modules can be fitted with reed,
mercury, solid state or electro-mechanical relays. Offering control
flexibility, models can control signals or loads from micro Volts at micro
Amps up to 5 Amps at 250 Volts.

Each board individually controls up to eight l/O channels.

DDI Form-C Series 5600, Relay Output Control modules are currently
available for shipping. Prices range from $225 for a single piece to below
$80 in quantities of 1000 or more.

Providing simple, low-cost detection and response solutions that switch
internal loads directly from embedded or stand-alone PC or STD bus systems
is the goal of five year old DDI, Inc. Today, plug-in board-level products
from DDI are used in process control, telecom, alarms and security
monitoring, communications, component testing, laboratory switching, and
many other applications.
