LABELWRITER II FOR PCS UPGRADES TO 2.0
PREMIERES WINDOWS VERSION, TOO!

GREENWICH, CT--When the LabelWriter ll was introduced a year ago, PC users
cheered to find they could quickly dash off professional-looking labels by
the ones or by the hundreds. Now CoStar Corporation announces its first
major software upgrade, Version 2.0, PLUS the first Windows edition!

"Making labels in small quantities is a problem for every computer user,"
says Debra Wong, director of marketing. "Depending upon the type of
printer you are using, productivity time is lost to changing paper trays,
re-aligning sheet-fed labels and running tests. You can also waste an
entire sheet just to do one or two labels."

The LabelWriter ll is a hardware/software combo that plugs into the serial
port. As a background program, it stands ready to immediately produce
labels in any quantity. Not only does the LabelWriter ll automate a
once-tedious chore, but it can also print POSTNET postal bar codes to
speed mail and save postage costs on bulk mailings.

The LabelWriter ll PC for DOS allows you to print without quitting the main
program. The latest version is a compilation of the most requested
features and enhancements from our users," says Wong. The new LabelWriter
ll DOS 2.0 software features include:

* WYSIWYG display allows users to preview the label before it
  prints.
* Scalable fonts for added flexibility for designing labels.
* Mix test fonts, styles and sizes on a line-by-line basis for
  jazzier labels
* Create and save label templates for each labeling job.
* Saves time having to reformat labels for different uses.
* Enhanced bar code support for inventory bar coding.
* International character set support for expanded use across
  the world.
* Post Office Delivery Point Barcode support. The new 11-digit
bar code will be a March, 1993 requirement to qualify for
  postage discounts.

The new LabelWriter II Windows software encompasses three components. A
full-featured Application appears as a Tool Bar to design label templates.
manage mailing lists, print address labels from a single document or mail
merge file without any additional keystrokes, print inventory bar code
labels and more. A Windows Print Driver is included for quick and easy
label printing directly from any Windows program, including databases,
word processors, graphic programs and bar code programs. And the software
also includes macros that appear as icons for easy access within the Tool
Bars for three popular word processing programs--WordPerfect for Windows,
Word for Windows and Ami Pro.

Some important features of the Windows software include:

* WYSIWGYG display allows users to preview the label before
  it prints.
* AutoPrint feature allows users to print labels and documents
  simultaneously--no additional keystrokes required.
* Create and save templates that mix fonts, styles, sizes and
  graphics.
* Works with any Windows system font. ATM and TrueType
  compatible.
* Import, store and print mailing lists easily using the
  AddressBook feature.
* Accepts DBF files or create lists within AddressBook.
* Import, store and print numerical lists for use with inventory
  bar code labels, etc.
* Four inventory bar code fonts included: UPC, Interleaved
2 of 5, Code 39 and EAN 8 and 13 POSTNET postal bar code
incorporating Delivery Point Barcode, the new 11-digit postal
requirement (effective March, 1993) for postage discounts.

"Many office workers and home business users are self-contained
productivity centers today," says Wong. "They don't have secretaries and
assistants to handle administrative tasks anymore. The LabelWriter ll
responds to this trend by automating yet another desktop function."

The LabelWriter II uses a one-inch print head and retails for $249.95. It
handles standard address size labels (1-1/8" x 3-1/2") available in three
colors: white, clear, and yellow. The LabelWriter II also handles
videocassette spine labels. The LabelWriter II Plus uses a 2-1/4" print
head and retails for $299.95. In addition to standard address and video
spine labels, the LabelWriter II Plus can print on shipping, diskette,
two-up address, and videocassette top labels.

The upgrade cost for the DOS version is $19.95 to users who purchased their
LabelWriter before June 1, 1992. Users who purchased their LabelWriter
after June 1, 1992, may receive the upgrade FREE. (Dated proof-of-purchase
required.)

The upgrade cost for the Windows version is $39.95 to users who purchased
their LabelWriter before June 1, 1992. Users who purchased the LabelWriter
after June 1, 1992 may receive the upgrade FREE. (Dated proof-of-purchase
required.)
