ALAMEDA, Calif., June 22, 1993--Spectrum HoloByte is pleased to announce
the release of the first Macintosh CD-ROM title in its growing line of
cutting-edge interactive entertainment products. Iron Helix, designed
exclusively for CD-ROM, is a science fiction action adventure which
delivers state-of-the-art access speed. Published and distributed by
Spectrum HoloByte, Iron Helix was created by development house Drew
Pictures Inc., a San Francisco-based interactive company.

Action and Gameplay

Rendered entirely in full-color photorealistic 3-D animation, Iron Helix is
an action adventure set in a cold-war future where a terrible biological
weapon threatens to touch off a galactic holocaust. Players must stop the
weapon from reaching its target by piloting a small robotic probe within
an enormous maze-like starship, all the while evading the ship's deadly
security robot. By speeding through corridors, shafts and chambers in this
six-level dreadnought, players must guide the probe to locate the clues
that will stop the defender robot and destroy the monstrous ship. But
there's a catch: the players' probe was developed for biological research
and thus carries no weapons, making Iron Helix a race of wits and time.

The DNA Challenge

The ship's security system presents an unusual twist in the quest to save
the universe. Classified areas of the ship housing vital clues needed to
destroy the ship are protected by a security system coded by the DNA of
deceased officers. With the deadly robot on their back, players must
search for DNA samples to unlock passages to classified areas.

Developers

Iron Helix was created by Drew Pictures Inc. of San Francisco, a
software-development studio specializing in CD-ROM entertainment. Drew
Huffman is the game's main designer with art direction by Rich Cohen,
formerly an artist at Industrial Light & Magic where he worked on such
films as "Terminator 2" and "Total Recall. " Lead programmer J.A. Nelson
managed the interactive programming and design of the game.
