AST RESEARCH UNVEILS NEW ASTVISION LOW-RADIATION MONITORS IN 17-, 15- AND
14-INCH FORMATS

IRVINE, Calif., May 11, 1993 -- Personal computer users who operate with
graphic-intensive Windows-based applications now have additional choices
of high-quality displays -- in sizes up to 17 inches -- with ASTVision, a
new line of low-radiation, multi-sync color monitors introduced today by
AST Research Inc.

Available in 17-, 15- and 14-inch formats, ASTVision monitors are now
shipping worldwide to AST's computer resellers.

In addition to crisp graphic displays and a sleek, ergonomic design,
ASTVision monitors offer larger displays and greater functionality over
previous models. Their multisynchronous operation deliver enhanced
flexibility in graphics resolutions and refresh rates, in addition to
user-controlled definition of the horizontal and vertical image size and
positioning.

"ASTVision offers superb graphics performance and versatility at attractive
price points," said Dan Sheppard, director, Bravo and Portable Systems
Group. "With increasing numbers of users regularly toggling between
multiple open Windows applications, we expect our 17- and 15-inch models
will be an extremely attractive tool to clearly display graphics,
text-based files and documents in full-size formats. The larger monitors
provide a noticeable difference, especially when working over extended
periods of time."

ASTVision features include .28mm dot pitch for up to 1280 x 1024 pixel
resolution, and push-button, digital controls for horizontal and vertical
size and positioning. Users can choose from up to 10 pre-set or eight
custom modes that instantly change display configurations for flexibility
when operating in Windows-based environments. The cases are also
manufactured using bromide-free plastics for greater recyclability.

ASTVision is available worldwide from all AST Authorized Reseller
locations. Suggested retail prices are $495 for the 14-inch Model 4L, $595
for the 15-inch Model 5L and $995 for the 17-inch Model 7L.
