MITSUBISHI ADDS FCC CLASS B CERTIFICATION TO DIAMOND PRO 17 COLOR MONITOR

CYPRESS, Calif., April 5, 1993 -- The Display Products group of Mitsubishi
Electronics America, Inc. announced today that the Diamond Pro 17, a high-
m performance color monitor for PCs, Macintoshes and UNIX-based
systems, has D received FCC Class B certification. Products with
the Class B designation are engineered so that they do not disrupt the
operation of household electronics such as radios and televisions and are
approved for home use.

Introduced in July 1992, the autoscanning monitor offers a wide
compatibility range; the Diamond Match Color Calibration System, a
microprocessor-based system for matching on-screen images with hard copy
colors; microprocessor-based front panel controls; and a low magnetic
emission design that meets all U.S., Canadian and international standards,
including MPR II.

"As home offices and small business become more sophisticated, the need for
advanced products with FCC Class B has increased. By adding this
certification to the Diamond Pro 17 we are able to offer to home office
users one of the industry's finest monitors for general business/Windows,
CAD/CAM/CAE, desktop publishing and graphic design. And because the
Diamond Pro 17 has the smallest enclosure of any 17-inch monitor, it will
appeal to users who have limited space," said Craig Sloss, product
marketing manager.

The Diamond Pro 17 is the first Mitsubishi monitor to use a vertically
flat, square-cornered Trinitron aperture grille CRT. Other Mitsubishi
monitors use either conventional spherical or flat square CRTs.

The Diamond Pro 17 has an aperture grille pitch of 0.25 mm and is
compatible with all medium- and high-resolution graphics standards from
640 x 480 through 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz non-interlaced, including the new
XGA-2. The monitor is well-suited for the popular new flicker-free 1024 x
768 high refresh rates of 70 to 76 Hz non-interlaced. Other standards it
runs include VGA, SVGA, XGA, XGA-2, 8514/A; Macintosh II, LC and Quadra;
UNIX-based systems such as Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystems; and most
third-party graphics cards. The autoscan range is 30 to 64 kHz horizontal
and 50 to 130 Hz vertical.

User controls are all microprocessor-based and located on the front panel
of the monitor. The digital scan mode memory stores up to 12 different
operating frequencies, with display parameters remaining constant when
switching between frequencies. The controls also adjust brightness,
contrast, vertical size and position, horizontal size and position,
convergence, on-screen colors, memory reset, degauss, pin cushion
amplitude and phase, and key balance.

The Diamond Pro 17 comes standard with Diamond Matte anti-glare and
anti-static coating on a dark tinted CRT to reduce glare from ambient
lighting. Many competing 17-inch monitors only offer anti-glare screens as
an expensive option.

The monitor also includes an integrated tilt/swivel base and a VGA signal
cable. Apple cable adapter plugs for Macintosh II, LC and Quadra
connectivity are available at no charge.

The Diamond Pro 17 has a two-year warranty covering parts and labor.
Suggested retail price is $1,499.
