INTEX LAUNCHES FIRST GRAPHICS ADD-IN FOR NEW GENERATION OF SPREADSHEETS

UltraGraphics Brings Exciting New Graph Features to 1-2-3 Release 3.x and
1-2-3 for Windows

March 15, 1993 -- Needham. MA: Intex Solutions, Inc., the leading publisher
and reseller of spreadsheet enhancements, today announced UltraGraphics, a
new graphics add-in for Lotus 1-2-3 Release 3.x and 1-2-3 for Windows
users. In addition to a dozen innovative 2-D and 3-D graph types, the
program features automatic range selection, 360 degree rotation, automatic
scaling along all three axes, "live" graphs, and other advanced options.
UltraGraphics is priced at $159.95 and is now shipping.

"UltraGraphics is the perfect graphing solution for spreadsheet users who
want to better communicate and analyze important spreadsheet data -- but
don't want to learn a complicated and expensive standalone graphics
program," said Marjorie Smith, Product Manager at Intex Solutions.
"UltraGraphics users can create professional looking graphs right in the
spreadsheet where their data resides, without rekeying any information.
And, while UltraGraphics is rich in functionality, it is fully menu-driven
and exceptionally easy to use, so users can express their ideas more
quickly and more clearly than ever before."

Arsenal of Graphs Types and Powerful New Features

UltraGraphics provides an outstanding selection of graph types, including
many not available in any spreadsheet program. Two graphs, the pyramid and
the grid graphs, were designed especially for spreadsheet users. Both the
pyramid graph, an alternative to the pie chart, and the grid graph, ideal
for contrasting very large numbers with very small ones, create a visually
dramatic impact which can instantly turn an average presentation into an
exciting one. The familiar 3-D bar chart is given several new twists in
UltraGraphics, allowing users to choose between a vertical stacked bar,
3-D bar with color scaling, horizontal stacked bar, and positive negative
graphs, plus the traditional 3-D bar chart. Also included are 2-D and 3-D
scattergraphs.

One beta tester who found UltraGraphics to be an excellent addition to
1-2-3 is Laurie Hiney, a member of the Los Angeles Computer Society,
Spreadsheet SIG. According to Ms. Hiney, "I used the beta version of
UltraGraphics as an add-in with Lotus 1-2-3 Release 3.1, and found it to
be an excellent enhancement for spreadsheet work. It is easy to use and
has some interesting approaches to graphing -- I particularly liked the
pyramid graphs and the 3-D bar graph with color scaling."

Users will also find that UltraGraphics' advanced features allow them to
create exactly the graph they need. For example, with UltraGraphics, users
can graph much larger ranges than is now possible in Lotus -- up to 24
columns by 30 rows. Users can also customize their graphs with ample color
choice, gradated backgrounds, 360 degree rotation, resizing, different
font types and many other options.

Other convenient and powerful features include "smart ranges," which
automatically guess the appropriate data and label ranges for a graph, and
UltraGraphics "live" graph option. The "live" graph option makes it
possible to create a graph that is linked to the spreadsheet values and
will automatically update as values change. Users can easily toggle back
and forth between the graph and spreadsheet data to view changes or, if
they prefer, UltraGraphics will allow them to embed a graph into their
current worksheet so they can see changes taking place as they make them.

Windows Add-in Supports DDE

The first true spreadsheet graphics add-in for Windows, UltraGraphics for
1-2-3 for Windows supports Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), the Windows
feature which enables different applications to share information.
UltraGraphics can send graphs via DDE directly into any application which
accepts the Metafilepict format. UltraGraphics for 1-2-3 for Windows also
sports many familiar Windows features, such as the ability to cut and
paste graphs into a spreadsheet, dialog boxes, scroll bars, pull-down
menus and full mouse support.

Pricing and System Requirements

Two versions of UltraGraphics are available. One version is for 1-2-3 for
DOS Release 3.1, 3.1 + or 3.4. The other version is for 1-2-3 for Windows
Version 1.1 or higher (Windows 3.1 required). Approximately 2 MB of RAM is
required for either version, in addition to the normal requirements of
each spreadsheet.

UltraGraphics lists at $159.95, plus $5 shipping, and can be ordered
directly through Intex Solutions.
