New Drive7 Release SyQuest/SCSI Probe Compliant Support For New SyQuest "C"
Drives

Drive7 v2.3.4 with Drive7rem is the Most Versatile Support Available

March 15, 1993 -- Casa Blanca Works, Inc., of Greenbrae, CA has announced
version 2.3.4 of Drive7, the popular universal drive formatting software.
Major improvements to the top-rated formatter include direct support for
SyQuest/SCSI Probe standardization guidelines as well as formatting
support for SyQuest "C" drives.

To make the use of SyQuest cartridges as convenient as possible, SyQuest
recently announced the establishment of a standardization consortium.
Composed of SyQuest and major formatting software providers, the
consortium is calling for all removable device drivers to be SyQuest/SCSI
Probe compliant.

"We are very pleased to welcome Casa Blanca Works as a member of the
growing consortium of developers who are ensuring compatibility of their
drivers with SyQuest/SCSI Probe version 3.5," said Joel Levine, Vice
President of Marketing for SyQuest Technology. "Their efforts will aid in
our collective commitment to users of the 5 1/4" SyQuest standard to
achieve 100% compatibility."

"With both Drive7 and SyQuest's wide acceptance in Service Bureau
environments, we certainly wanted to be among the first to comply with the
SyQuest/SCSI Probe guidelines," said John Catalano, President of Casa
Blanca Works. "We understand the problems that users have had with
multiple drivers and the sharing of SyQuest cartridges. That's why Drive7
has solved most of the incompatibilities already. And we're proud to
support SyQuest by joining the standardization consortium. I encourage all
driver developers to take part in the consortium."

Drive7 can format removable cartridge and magneto optical drives including
SyQuest 44, 88 and 88C mechanisms. Bernoulli 90 and 150 mechanisms and
InSite, Sony, Epson, Olympus, Panasonic, and Ricoh optical drives.
Multiple SyQuest and optical cartridges can be formatted in one session.
Since August 1992, Drive7 has provided exclusive authorized support for
SuperMac DataFrame and LaserFrame drives.

Included with the program is Drive7rem, a powerful universal device driver
for removable mechanisms. Drive7rem allows the user to automatically mount
a cartridge on the desktop formatted with virtually any program. This is
especially useful in a mixed-vendor environment (such as a service bureau)
that receives cartridges formatted with any number of products. In
addition to the specific SyQuest support, the 'rem' efficiently solves
most potential extension conflicts as it replaces multiple drivers in the
System folder.

Version 2.3.4 of Drive7rem also includes a unique "intelligence" feature
that avoids driver conflicts. At boot time, Drive7rem checks the Macintosh
memory and SCSI addresses for removable drivers. If it finds a conflicting
driver at any particular SCSI ID, it does two things: First, Drive7rem
does not load itself, avoiding a potential conflict. Second, it tells the
user about the potential conflict with a warning box. No other driver in
it's class has this unique and strong feature.

The company will ship the new release on March 22, 1993.
