KODAK SOFTWARE TEACHES PHOTOGRAPHY TO MACINTOSH COMPUTER USERS

ATLANTA, Feb. 18--Macintosh computer users now have a new software program
that teaches photographic skills right on the screen. Kodak
MACphotographer, announced today, simulates an advanced 35 mm single-lens
reflex camera and lets the user "take" photographs electronically.

The Kodak MACphotographer software program lets users select a scene, film,
camera position, adjust camera settings for a picture. The program
"develops" photos and displays them in an on-screen photo album. The album
evaluates photos and displays the exposure settings, film, and lighting
used to take the picture. Users can see the effects of exposure on screen
and experiment with different settings, noting the effect of each change.

The program leads beginners through basic techniques while challenging more
advanced amateurs to improve skills. A Basic 35 mm SLR or more advanced
simulated model with extra capabilities can be selected. With the advanced
model, users practice metering, bracketing, controlling depth-of-field,
and working with both fixed and zoom lenses. A built-in review mode
supplies detailed information and tips for improving picture-taking
skills.

The Help/Reference menu provides easy access to an on-board encyclopedia of
photography. Users can access it to learn about exposure, film, lenses,
focusing, action, flash, composition, depth and perspective, and much
more. A database offers a wealth of technical data on existing-light
exposures, Kodak film characteristics, filters, f-stop and shutter-speed
selections, and reciprocity characteristics.

Photography students can turn to the included Photo Workshop book to learn
about shutter speeds, the relationship between light and exposure settings
and more. It teaches specific photo techniques in a memorable and
entertaining way.

There are 15 interactive lessons that allow the user to learn at his or her
own pace.
