NEW TESTING OF SyDOS CD-ROM DRIVE REVEALS FASTER MEAN ACCESS TIME

BOCA RATON, FL (January 20, 1993) -- SyDOS, a division of SyQuest
Technology, has announced that testing just completed by Philips
Electronics has confirmed that the SyDOS Personal CD CD-ROM provides
average access times of 545 msec. This average access time is much lower
than originally announced, and is a result of extensive product testing
with SyDOS enhancements.

In November, when the SyDOS product was introduced in a joint announcement
with Philips Key Modules, which developed the technology, average access
time was estimated at 850 msec. Based on testing just completed at Philips
headquarters in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the SyDOS Personal CD with SyDOS
enhancements actually provides performance of 545 msec. SyDOS provides an
enhanced interface board and proprietary software for the product.

According to Linda Haury, SyDOS vice president of marketing, the average
user won't see a change, since the revised specification is merely a
reflection of the true access time. "The Personal CD with SyDOS'
enhancements actually provides performance far better than the original
expectations. This new specification is especially important for customers
comparing various CD products on the market, since it gives our product a
competitive edge in our market niche. SyDOS Personal CD provides faster
access times at lower cost than other CD-ROM drives currently available."

In the next 45 to 60 days, SyDOS will offer users who require MPC
compliance an optional upgrade card. The upgrade card increases the data
transfer rate of the drive, offering enhanced performance of many
multimedia applications, including full-motion video. Presently, the
Personal CD uses a parallel port interface with printer "pass-thru" for
plug-and-play, easy installation, flexibility and use with notebook and
laptop computers that may not have expansion card slots. In addition, the
Personal CD can share a single parallel port with a printer. The compact
drive weighs under 3 Lbs. and is top-loading.

The SyDOS Personal CD comes complete with all installation software,
step-by-step instructions, cabling, user manual and power supply needed to
run with virtually any DOS or Windows-based desktop, laptop or notebook
system.

The Personal CD is sold as a bundle with the latest version of CorelDRAW,
the leading ALL-IN-ONE graphics software, and as a stand-alone unit. In
either case, the Personal CD includes a full one-year warranty. The
suggested list price of the SyDOS/Corel bundle will be $999 and the
suggested list price of the Personal CD alone is $499. Pricing to the
end-user will be approximately $299 for the stand-alone Personal CD and
$499 for the Personal CD/CorelDRAW bundle.
