MASTERSOFT ANNOUNCES MACINTOSH EASY OPEN TRANSLATORS

January 6,1993 - San Francisco, California - Today at the MacWorld Expo
Mastersoft Inc. announced that it will upgrade its Macintosh translation
program to include a set of translators that will take advantage of Apple
Computer's new Macintosh Easy Open extension. Mastersoft's Word For
Word/Macintosh, Version 5.2, is being demonstrated during the Expo and is
scheduled to ship before the end of the month. The program will contain
over 50 document conversion filters. Through the use of the Macintosh Easy
Open extension, which is included in the package, over 95% of existing
Macintosh applications will have access to the Mastersoft translators.

Both standalone and Macintosh Easy Open interfaces will be included in the
Word For Word package. Using the Mastersoft stand alone interface, users
can convert bidirectionally between the supported formats, allowing 2500
translation combinations. All files in a folder can be translated with
just a click of the mouse.

With the Macintosh Easy Open extension and the Mastersoft interface and
translators installed in the users system folder file, formerly
incompatible documents can be opened. Selecting the Open command in an
application produces a list of not only the documents that can normally be
opened by the application, but also those which have appropriate
Mastersoft translators installed in the system file.

"We have been working with Apple on this terrific new innovation in
information exchange since it's early conceptual stages," said Lise
Lambert Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mastersoft. "It allows
us to offer end users multiple interfaces and brings the latest file
translation technology to both our OEM and our retail customers."

The suggested retail price of Word For Word/Macintosh, Version 5.2 will be
$149. The program will be available through national distributors, local
dealers and direct from Mastersoft. Registered owners of previous versions
of Word For Word/Macintosh will be given the opportunity to upgrade to
version 5.2 for $39.95.
