SSI SHATTERS TECHNOLOGY BARRIERS AT WCES '93 WITH GRAPHICALLY SUPERIOR
16-BIT SOFTWARE

DARK SUN: SHATTERED LANDS, EYE OF THE BEHOLDER III, FLASHBACK, VEIL OF
DARKNESS, TONY LA RUSSA BASEBALL II LEAD ALLSTAR LINEUP

Las Vegas, NV--January 7, 1993 - Barriers are made to be broken, and
Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) shatters them all with its Winter
Consumer Electronics Show software line-up. After years of extensive
research and development on 16-bit systems, the company introduces the
hottest graphics ever seen on computer screens. New game-driving engines,
richer colors, smoother scrolling, full-blown cinematics, larger on-screen
characters, and advanced techniques such as rotoscoping top the list of
accomplishments. With the advent of the new technologies, SSI, the
industry-leading fantasy and war game publisher, today expands its
dominance to include every major category of computer entertainment
software: sports, side-view action, fantasy role-playing, horror, war
game, simulation, and 3-D graphic adventure.

"Over the past 12 years, SSI has established itself as the undisputed
leader in fantasy and war games. However, the 8-bit technologies of the
past were limited in scope and graphics. After exploring the potential of
all the major 16-bit systems, we now introduce the game-driving engines
that will set new industry standards for all genres of game play,"
explains Bob Lindsey, SSI Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Pool of Radiance, the 1988 AD&D game introduction that spawned a
million-selling series of software, all based on a limited 8-bit system
engine. The DARK SUN game is a quantum leap in the computer role-playing
experience with a cutting-edge engine designed specifically for today's
leading 16-bit systems. The world features full-screen 256 color VGA

included on the IBM CD for added value. The DARK SUN world is destined to
re-affirm SSI's identity as the leader in fantasy role-playing and will be

FLASHBACK
Game Category: Side-View Action Adventure
Versions: IBM PC (May 1993) - $59.95

Developed by the cinematic experts at Delphine Software, Flashback explores
a new frontier in side-view action adventures by merging rotoscoped
graphics with polygon-based cinematics to produce the finest arcade-style
IBM game ever. Rotoscoping is the process of filming a live actor, then
translating the footage into cartoon or game animation. Flashback's
rotoscoping is the most extensive ever seen in a computer game, with much
higher quality and attention to detail than the blocky graphics found in
games such as Out of this World. The character animations are unequalled,
with a stunning 24 frames displayed per second. 80 cinematic intermissions
pan and zoom with full animation. Flashback's music score and storyline
are equally impressive, and the game is six times as massive as Out of
this World. Also developed by Delphine Software, Out of this World is the
only computer game in history to win Computer Game Review and CD-ROM
Entertainment's coveted Platinum Triad award for excellence.

SUPER SHIPS OF THE ATLANTIC
Game Category: Combat Simulator Expansion Disk
Versions: IBM PC (January 1993) - $29.95

The first installment in the Great Naval Battles expansion disk series,
Super Ships of the Atlantic, is a tribute to the "What if?" possibilities
of World War II. The disk offers nine new British and German ships that
were either incomplete during WW II, or were never actually built. These:
new ships are stronger, meaner, have heavier armament, and add more
tactical depth to Great Naval Battles. Digitized and re-touched photos of
actual ships and models depict the new ships with incredible attention to
detail. A new set of hypothetical scenarios tests these ships in combat.

Great Naval Battles Expansion Disk #2: SCENARIO BUILDER
Game Category: Combat Simulator Expansion Disk
Versions: IBM PC (March 1993) - $39.95

The second installment planned in the Great Naval Battles expansion disk
series, Scenario Builder, enables players to create their own naval
battles using the arsenal of ships acquired from the base game and the
expansion disks. Players place cruisers, destroyers, and battleships
anywhere on a map, and select their speed, course, weapons, ammunition,
and damage status. The interface makes design easy and intuitive. Scenario
Builder also offers a role-playing Captain's Campaign that advances the
player through the command ranks from a lowly Destroyer Captain to the
esteemed Task Force Commander.

Great Naval Battles Expansion Disk #3: AMERICA IN THE ATLANTIC
Game Category: Combat Simulator Expansion Disk Computer
Versions: IBM PC (March 1993) - $29.95

The third and final Great Naval Battles expansion disk, America in the
Atlantic, detours nine U.S. ship types that engaged the Japanese in the
Pacific during World War II to instead encounter the Germans in the
Atlantic. Historically, the American ships were technological giants
compared to their British and German cousins, with advanced damage control
systems, higher-powered guns, and superior radar equipment. A new set of
hypothetical scenarios tests these ships in combat.

LEGENDS OF VALOUR
Game Category: 3-D Graphic Fantasy Adventure Computer
Versions: IBM PC (now) - $59.95

Fantasy becomes reality in Legends of Valour, a single-character graphic
adventure set in the mythical city of Mitteldorf. Valour vanquishes its
opposition with the smoothest scrolling three-dimensional graphics ever
seen in a fantasy role-playing game. The fast-moving, free-form visuals
twist, turn, and zoom cleanly without break-ups, while competing software
such as Ultima Underworld often jerks and slows down. The dynamic and
evolving sound effects add an eerie sense of realism as players crawl
through claustrophobic underground dungeons. Encounters with town
inhabitants and monsters change depending on night or day conditions,
tracked by an internal clock. Players join up to nine guilds and embark on
over 45 exciting quests in order to slay an evil demon and restore a
deposed king to power.

precise detail, the game offers the stunning drama of five campaigns, two
scenarios, and five levels of play. With 78 million square miles of
territory and 200 bases, Pacific War gives players the big picture as they
command their multitudes of U.S. or Japanese battle forces from their
headquarters. Realistic graphics display combat scenes complete with bomb
and torpedo explosions. The simulation is uncanny, right down to the
impact of a Japanese Kamikaze plane crashing into the deck of an aircraft
carrier and the development of Atomic Bombs.
