CE Software To Ship QuickMail 2.6 With New Server and Added Network
Administration Tools

West Des Moines, IA, January 4, 1993 - CE SOFTWARE HOLDINGS, INC.
(NASDAQ/NMS Symbol:CESH) today announced a shipment date for the new
QuickMail version 2.6. The company announced that the product would ship
on or before March 26, 1993. Everyone who purchases the product after
January 1, 1993 will receive a free upgrade pack subject to product
registration.

With an installed base of almost 1,000,000 users, QuickMail has, since its
inception, been known as the leading provider of Macintosh E-mail.
Customers, resellers and reviewers alike cite the outstanding user
interface as the primary reason for QuickMail's success. Version 2.6 now
provides enhanced administration tools in conjunction with a
re-architected server, providing the finest Macintosh server-based
software ever produced. Additionally, 2.6 delivers the world-class
QuickMail experience to all Intel-based users with the shipment of the
QuickMail Windows client and through upgrade of the DOS clients. Windows,
DOS and Macintosh users all gain the common look-and-feel unique to
QuickMail.

"When it was written in 1988, the QuickMail mail transport was a brilliant
piece of code", said Ford Goodman, Executive Vice President at the
company. "With the release of version 2.6, not only has the server been
revised to address the operating system more effectively, it is a very
modular piece of code that can be maintained and evolved more effectively.
We have also added key network administration tools such as "Move User"
and remote administration that will make QuickMail as easy to administer
as it is to use." For example, adding, changing or deleting users can now
be done from any station, including remote locations. The new "Move User"
makes it a snap to transfer users and their mail to a new MailCenter. And,
the new Verified Backup Tool provides back-up and robust housekeeping
administration for MailCenters.

QuickMail 2.6 includes server software, client software, remote access,
forms creation, mail filing, real-time on-screen conferencing, gateways
and more. QuickMail is consistently a winner in E-mail reviews. Recent
awards include PC Week Analyst's Choice, Macworld Editors' Choice and
Macworld's World Class Award.

At today's announcement, Ned Horvath, CE's Product Team Leader for
Messaging said, "This new version of QuickMail 2.6 benefits from our Total
Quality emphasis in development. Over a year ago, we determined that we
should do the right thing, regardless of how difficult. We completely
re-architected the mail transport and administration of a mail server that
was working relatively well. We did so in order to ensure that QuickMail
customers received the finest mail transport available. At the same time,
we are preparing to provide the modular, cross-platform QuickMail
experience through the industry-standard VIM API, and on
messaging-enhanced network operating systems such as Novell's MHS/SMF and
Apple's System 7.x with AOCE. "

Network Status Displays have been significantly enhanced to include current
processes and their progress, and a heartbeat display to show the level of
activity present. QuickMail 2.6 works with AppleShare 3.0 and 3.0.1 and
system 7 File Sharing. On high end Quadra's, QuickMail 2.6 supports
hundreds of simultaneous, multi-platform users with up to 32 concurrent
server transactions.

DOS users will be especially pleased with improved performance and with
mail verification capabilities. Performance of sorting functions has
increased by a factor of up to 30 times.

Support for third party developers that provide add-ons to QuickMail 2.6
continues. QuickMail 2.6 enables enhanced directory services with third
party supplied "Find" functions. QuickMail 2.6 is capable of automatically
connecting with GE Information Services drivers for improved connections
to AppleLink. This is in addition to existing automatic connections to
CompuServe, MCI-Mail and more. Third party support for QuickMail 2.6
includes connections to X.400, UUCP, SMTP, PROFS, MHS and dozens of
others.

QuickMail 2.6 will be available through CE's Certified Resellers and
through our domestic and international distribution channels. United
States and Canada Users of Version 2.5 and above can upgrade to 2.6 for a
nominal fee of $40, which includes shipping, a full set of manuals and
disks and will upgrade an unlimited set of QuickMail users. The upgrade
from QuickMail 2.2.x and below is $12 per user. QuickMail 2.6 retails for
$649 for a 10-user pack. CE will continue to bundle a 5-pack of ON
Technology's award-winning group scheduling package, Meeting Maker, for
the foreseeable future.

Macintosh Systems 6.05 and 7, and above, are supported, as well as DOS 3.1
and above and Windows 3.x. AppleTalk, Novell Netware, Banyan, Microsoft
and other networks are supported. Conferencing is only available on
AppleTalk networks.
