NEC TECHNOLOGIES, INC. INTRODUCES THE NEC WINDOWS NT EVALUATOR: POWERMATE
EXPRESS DX2/66e RECOGNIZED AS AN OPTIMALLY CONFIGURED MICROSOFT WINDOWS NT
BETA CERTIFIED PLATFORM

Boxborough, Mass., January 11,1993--Meeting the growing demand of the
corporate MIS community to evaluate Microsoft's Windows NT Operating
System environment, NEC Technologies, Inc. today introduced the NEC
Windows NT Evaluator, a complete Windows NT Beta Certified Platform.

Based on Microsoft's October 1992 release of the beta version of Windows
NT, The NEC Windows NT Evaluator is targeted towards corporate accounts
looking to evaluate this advanced operating system environment on a vendor
"tested and supported" basis. To this end, NEC becomes the first hardware
vendor to provide total end-user support throughout the Windows NT Beta
evaluation process.

"We expect the Windows NT operating system to re-define the desktop
computing environment during the next several years," said Mike Mitsch,
manager of NEC's Computer systems Marketing unit. "In order to expose our
customer base to this technology as early as possible, we've enhanced
Microsoft's existing Windows NT Beta Evaluation Program by pre-configuring
and pre-loading all of the required components. As a result, end-users are
provided with a turnkey system, eliminating the guesswork associated with
installing a new computing environment."

"We are pleased that NEC is offering the beta version of Windows NT for
customers evaluating Windows NT," said Carl Stork, director, Systems
Marketing at Microsoft. "There is unprecedented early customer interest in
Windows NT. By offering a pre-configured system, NEC permits customers to
get right to work testing the features and services of Windows NT."

The NEC Windows NT Evaluator

NEC Windows NT Evaluator users will be provided with a complete hardware
system--the PowerMate Express DX2/66e--configured with the Microsoft Beta
Windows NT Operating System on the hard disk, all required device drivers
loaded and configured for optimal performance, the official Microsoft
Product Evaluation Kit for Beta Windows NT, and toll-free hardware
technical support from NEC.

In addition, all purchasers will automatically receive copies of all
Windows NT Beta upgrades issued prior to Microsoft's scheduled Spring 1993
official product release.

The PowerMate Express DX2/66e

The PowerMate Express DX2/66e has been chosen by NEC as the base system
platform for the NEC Windows NT Evaluator. Based on the powerful
"speed-doubling" Intel 486DX/2 66MHz microprocessor, the EISA-based
PowerMate Express DX2/66e features Image Video - NEC's first-to-market
implementation of local bus video technology. In addition, the system
features a high performance SCSI subsystem, five 32-bit EISA bus-master
slots and five half-height storage bays. For the NEC Windows NT Evaluator,
the PowerMate Express DX2/66e is configured with 16MB RAM, 535MB SCSI hard
drive, 1.44MB diskette drive, CDR-84 internal CD-ROM reader with
MultiSpin, keyboard and mouse.

"The balanced performance environment of the PowerMate Express DX2/66e
makes it the optimal platform for Windows NT evaluation," added Mitsch.
"To further take advantage of the graphics power of Windows NT, an
optional NEC Multisync 5FG monitor is also available."
